Ronan had been holding the brewed medicine, and Cordelia was staring at the cup as if in a trance. "What would I have done to resort to such desperate measures?" he asked Cordelia.
Caught off guard by Ronan's penetrating question, Cordelia suddenly felt her face flush. If he hadn't resorted to desperate measures but indeed had personally made the herbal tea for her, she should be grateful.
"Thank you." Cordelia finally let out a sigh of relief and started drinking the medicine.
Ronan watched her until she finished the last sip. "Sleep now." He took the cup from her and turned off the light for her.
Cordelia heard him go to the kitchen before returning to the room next door. Only then did she fall asleep. Perhaps the medicine Dr. Krueger prescribed to her contained a sleep aid because she fell asleep quickly.
When she woke up, she felt much lighter.
Cordelia immediately felt her stomach, which seemed normal. Then, she sent the two prescriptions Dr. Krueger had given her to Victoria, asking her to check if there was anything unusual about them.
Victoria didn't respond immediately, possibly busy with work or consulting a coworker. She was studying obstetrics and gynecology, so she might not have understood this herbal medicine.
Cordelia took her phone to the dining table.
Ronan hadn't gone to work. He was sitting at the table, probably having just woken up. As soon as Cordelia sat down, he put his hand on her forehead. His hand was warm, and Cordelia felt a tingling sensation all over her body when he touched her. "No fever," he mumbled to himself.
"Hmm."
"Did you sweat last night after taking the medicine?" he asked casually while eating a dumpling.
"Uh-huh, it's almost all better now." Although Cordelia felt better, she felt weak and shaky. Her hand trembled as she picked up a sausage. The sausages were so small. At this moment, Ronan picked up a sausage for her and placed it on the small plate in front of her.
Cordelia was a bit startled. A warm feeling surged from her heart, but then she thought of her mother, Adrian's plight, and Kendra's dead child, all thanks to this man.
