Deanna's attention was quick to shift, no longer clutching Samantha's hair as tightly as before. Only by shifting Deanna's focus onto Cordelia was Samantha able to devote her time and energy to her career.
"What do I do?" Deanna became suddenly anxious, thinking that Cordelia had no chance with Ronan anymore. Suddenly, her eyes shifted again, "If it's his, why doesn't he say something?"
"It's simple. He's afraid you'll try to harm Cordelia's baby! Ronan is protective of Cordelia." Samantha was a master at stirring the pot.
Deanna grew more anxious, realizing that the baby meant an inevitable connection to Cordelia, with an inheritance to consider in the future. Ronan was presently living with Cordelia even when they were already divorced.
"Enough talk, what's the action plan? It's already been months, what can I do?" Deanna asked.
Poisoning or pushing Cordelia was out of the question, the consequences would be devastating and criminal.
"Hurry up and get Cordelia and Jamie to tie the knot!" Samantha suggested, "I'll have my cousin talk to Jamie's mom!"
"Will it work?" Deanna asked.
"I'll do my best!" Samantha said.
Before Cordelia got pregnant, Samantha's previous ideas had been met with resistance from Deanna. This time, she learned her lesson. By involving more people, even if the plan failed, she wouldn't be to blame. It could be Adrian's fault, or it could be Jamie's mom's. Samantha's goal was to keep Deanna's attention on Cordelia so she could focus on her auditions in The High Society.
"I'm counting on you. Don't mess this up. If you do, I'll make sure every director and producer in Millstone knows, and you'll have no roles to play. Then we'll see who's really powerful, you or me." Deanna threatened, pointing at Samantha's forehead.
