In Ronan's office, Emerson showed up.
"Let's swing by the Audit Department." Emerson spoke with a hint of irritation.
"Really? You, the mighty PhD, have something you can't handle?" Ronan replied, smirking at Emerson's annoyance.
"Seriously, what's Wyatt playing at? Ignoring his own team's issues and prioritizing others? Does he not understand priorities?" Emerson was pointing towards the upper floor, cursing Wyatt.
Ronan chuckled, "Why so hot under the collar? Cool down. The Audit Department is short-staffed, I'm working on it."
"Hiring people won't solve the immediate problem. What about our Finance Department's issues?" Emerson was fuming, "Come on, let's go upstairs. He only listens to you."
Emerson wanted Ronan to go upstairs and sort things out.
"You're pulling me into this petty squabble?" Ronan was reluctant to go. He was busy reviewing and signing the documents his secretary had brought in.
"Of course, who else but you, the boss? You're the firefighter here." Emerson teased Ronan.
"Firefighter?" Ronan looked up at Emerson, "I wonder who's going to put out my fires."
"Cut the crap. Where's Cordelia?" Emerson's eyes scanned the room, no sign of Cordelia. He asked Ronan.
Emerson saw Cordelia delivering some files to Ronan in the conference room earlier. He knew Ronan was trying to keep Cordelia visible.
Ronan mentioned putting out fires, so naturally, Emerson associated it with Cordelia.
"Didn't she come in today? Where is she? Did she leave?" Emerson noticed the neatly folded blanket on the sofa, a clear sign that Cordelia had been there.
"She didn't leave. She's upstairs, doing yoga." Ronan said.
"And you're still here? I know that to get to Wyatt's office, you have to pass the yoga room. And the yoga room has glass doors." Emerson said.
"No, you can handle it yourself." Ronan leaned back, his eyes still on the documents.
After completing the pose, she was supposed to reach back and grab her foot. It was a difficult move for most people.
"Yoga is not about fighting against yourself. Do as much as you can." Kitty reminded Cordelia. Slowly, Cordelia turned around, her hand reaching for her foot, and she grabbed it.
"That's great. Your baby must be proud to have such a strong and determined mother." Kitty said, "Let's continue."
Kitty didn't notice Ronan and Emerson outside. They moved on towards Wyatt's office.
"Your wife is quite determined." Emerson remarked, "She's exhausted but doesn't give up."
"Is that so?" Ronan's face had turned dark.
Wasn't she determined indeed? Everyone thought her mother wouldn't make it, but she worked multiple jobs and borrowed money to keep her mother alive, and alive she was. Her mother would still be alive if not for Olen. She was determined to study abroad and break away from her undergraduate degree, even when he deleted her offer, it didn't stop her. He wanted to bring her into Lumos Enterprises, but now, it seemed so difficult!
She was stubborn, indeed!
