The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 296

Samantha had initially entered her grandmother's room to defuse the awkward tension left by Ronan. She placed a glass of water on the table and planned to leave immediately. But curiosity piqued her interest. What kind of ring was it?

"It's the ring for you," Grandma fretted, her agitation evident.

Cordelia and Ronan had only registered their marriage without a ceremony, so she didn't have a ring, and she had never bought one herself. At this moment, she wasn't sure what kind of "ring" her grandmother was referring to.

Suddenly, she remembered the ring Shelley had given her as proof of her lineage. That ring was always kept in Cordelia's purse, untouched. She wasn't even sure if it was still there.

"I'll find it," she said, rummaging through her canvas bag.

To her surprise, she found it. "This one?" Cordelia handed the ring to her grandmother.

Grandma's eyesight wasn't the best, so she held it up to examine it.

At the sight of this ring, Samantha's heart tightened. Being an actress, she was familiar with props and knew that this was an emerald ring. It seemed that Cordelia's family was quite wealthy.

Samantha wondered how she could get the ring for herself.

Just then, the door creaked open.

Samantha knew that Ronald was back. She quickly sent a message to Sienna on WhatsApp: [Mom, start a fight with Dad ASAP. Get Cordelia out of here.]

Sienna was surprised by the message, but she owed Samantha for their move from Roseville to here. Starting a fight with Ronald didn't require any pretext. Her anger towards Ronald bubbled up instantly.

"Coming home this late? Where have you been? You hardly earn anything, but you sure spend a lot." Sienna spat out harshly.

Ronald had changed since his leg became paralyzed. He was quiet before, but now he was somewhat deranged. He had just finished a day's work and couldn't stand his wife's nagging. "Have I done something to upset you? You're the one who's always causing trouble!" Ronald retorted.

As expected, they started arguing.
