Ronan made his way swiftly to the door.
Leila, in a state of desperation, found herself sitting in front of his office door, pressing her body against it, tightly wrapping her arms around Ronan’s legs, refusing to let him pass.
"Move!" Ronan bellowed.
Leila wailed, "Ronan, please, you promised to let Deanna return to the spotlight! Have you forgotten your words? Did that woman whisper sweet nothings into your ear?"
"Let go!" Ronan attempted to free himself, but Leila held on fiercely.
"Ronan, you can't treat Deanna like this, you were once sweethearts!" Leila sobbed.
Her cries reverberated through the entire floor.
Ronan reached for his phone to call Cordelia.
Just then, a call came from an unknown number. The ringtone echoed incessantly.
He had no choice but to answer.
"Mr. Evans, this is Will from PrimeBuild Contractors. Hunter requested an account comparison, but we forgot to submit our books to your Audit Department. It’s our fault. We overlooked the fact that Ginger, the accountant who used to handle it, is no longer with First Enterprises. We apologize, Mr. Evans." Will sounded genuinely remorseful and rather obsequious.
"Understood!" Ronan swiftly hung up, attempting to call Cordelia again.
But Cordelia's line was busy.
Cordelia was on the phone with Tristi, asking her for a ride home.
Feeling frustrated, Cordelia thought her return trip was a waste of time.
"Tristi, where are you? Can you give me a ride home?" Cordelia asked from the entrance of Lumos Enterprises.
"You're going home now? I just got home to grab your songbook. I thought you were going home with Mr. Evans today. Wait for me, I'll come down," Tristi said.
"No need, you can stay home," Cordelia replied.
"Well, don't go anywhere alone. If something happens, I can't bear the responsibility," Tristi said with a hint of anxiety.
"I won't." Cordelia hung up.
Ronan called Tristi, who relayed her conversation with Cordelia to him.
After finally freeing himself from Leila's grip, Ronan managed to step outside.
He got into his car and sent Cordelia a message on Messenger. [Don't listen to her nonsense! There's nothing going on.]
[Where are you? Can you call?]
Cordelia needed a breather and took a cab to Millstone Park, known for its serene and beautiful scenery.
She thought she'd sit in the park for a while before going home.
