Ronan was draped over Cordelia, his phone sandwiched between their flushed faces as he had a voice call with Janice.
"What's up?" Ronan asked Janice, his tone indifferent.
Janice's voice was so close, Cordelia could hear every word.
"Mr. Evans, do you have a moment?" Janice queried.
"Go on."
Cordelia was suspicious, wondering if Callum had caught a cold or if something else had come up.
"Adrian came over earlier, causing quite a ruckus. He claims Tabitha's pregnant, and he's saying it's your responsibility. He's still here, and we can't seem to get him to leave," Janice informed, her voice tense.
"Then let him stay!" Ronan retorted, abruptly ending the call.
Cordelia turned her head to the side, remaining silent.
"Do you actually believe that crap?" Ronan grumbled, tossing his phone onto Cordelia's pillow.
"Get off!" Cordelia tried to push Ronan off her, but her attempts were futile.
She aimed to slap him, yet, her fist ended up in his grip. She continued to fight, each strike falling into his hand. The room echoed with the muffled sounds of her fists meeting his flesh.
Cordelia was seething. Of course, she didn't fully believe the rumors. Her fury stemmed from imagining him back home, interacting with other women in ways she couldn't see.
Jealousy filled her heart. To him, Cordelia was just one of many women, and whether they shared a bed mattered little. His liaisons with other women were merely to satisfy his physical cravings while seeking out Cordelia was for enjoyment.
"Cordelia, are you okay?" A knock sounded at the door, accompanied by Taylor's concerned voice.
Taylor knew Ronan was no saint, and feared for Cordelia's wellbeing; he had been listening for any signs of trouble from her room.
"I'm…" Before Cordelia could say she was fine, Ronan silenced her, swallowing any words she might have said. Cordelia's hands clawed at his back, her legs kicking, but he held her firmly in his arms.
"If you're okay, I'll take my leave?" Taylor's worried voice came again.
"Uh-huh." Cordelia managed to pull away from Ronan's lips, gasping for breath before responding.
