The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 397

Cordelia had been thoroughly worn out by Ronan's sexual antics during her time at home. If he wasn't the CEO of Lumos Enterprises, she'd be convinced he was a sex maniac, with only one thing on his mind.

In his words, "She only comes home once every few months, so she has to make up for lost time."

One night, he even whispered into her ear, "Give me another one."

Without hesitation, Cordelia refused. "Are you fond of children?" she asked.

"I like the ones you give birth to."

"Well, I’m sorry, but you’ll have to find someone else for that."

Upon hearing this, Ronan leaned against the headboard and lit a cigarette. "In that case, I suppose I'll have to find another woman."

"Whatever."

Cordelia booked her flight for Friday, and on Thursday, she made a call to the number that belonged to "Allison” and was written on the small piece of paper.

Unlike Ronan, who didn’t seem to care, Cordelia was curious about her roots. She wanted to know where she came from. She wanted to see what her rumored birth mother, "Allison," looked like.

She wasn't sure if Allison was indeed her birth mother, but she was certain that through Allison, she could find her.

Fortunately, Ronan was at the office that day, leaving Cordelia alone in their bedroom to call Allison.

"Hello, is this Allison?" Cordelia asked cautiously, her heart racing.

"Yes, this is Allison. You must be... Della," came the gentle reply.

"But with your congenital heart disease... getting an abortion could kill you," the older voice tried to warn.

"That's none of your concern! Goodbye!"

Cordelia stood outside, listening. Everything she'd heard recently was dubious. But if she wasn't mistaken, the voices belonged to Tabitha and Allison. Ronan had previously brushed off Janice's mention of Tabitha while they were in the States, telling Cordelia not to believe it. But now, she was beginning to.

And Tabitha had a heart condition...

When the woman left the room, she glanced at Cordelia but didn't seem to recognize her before she walked away.

Cordelia's heart sank. Regardless of whether Tabitha was actually carrying Ronan's child, the conversation suggested that Tabitha was willing to risk her life to protect Cordelia's status as Mrs. Evans. Anyone hearing that would be overwhelmed with guilt.
