The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 430

The following day, Cordelia didn't have any classes at Birchwood College. She didn't want Ronan to know that she was teaching there. After all, they were just acquaintances now. The less he knew, the better it would be for him and Callum.

Cordelia stepped out of her room to find that Ronan had already prepared breakfast. After tasting it, she realized that his cooking skills had improved significantly over the past three years. Back then, he could barely boil an egg.

He had also prepared a bowl of scrambled eggs, more beautifully presented than any you could buy at a diner. The eggs were golden and smooth, topped with a few slices of mushrooms, and a handful of shrimp. It was garnished with a sprinkle of salt; the aroma wafting up from the bowl was mouthwatering.

"You... you can make scrambled eggs?" She asked Ronan.

Three years had passed, and Cordelia found it strange and somewhat awkward to talk to him.

Ronan glanced at her with a smirk. "Can't you?"

"I... never tried," Cordelia admitted, her head bowed in shame. After all, scrambled eggs were a kid's dish. She didn't eat it, and she never made it. "Even if I tried, I probably wouldn't be able to make it as good as this. It looks simple but it's actually quite tricky. I'm not very good at this."

Cordelia had once stumbled upon a tutorial on how to make scrambled eggs on the internet. It looked simple but one wrong step could ruin the whole dish.

"You've never been the sharpest tool in the shed," Ronan retorted.

Cordelia was speechless and could only continue eating her breakfast. Her phone buzzed with a message from Sally on Messenger.

[Ms. Haselwood, I've been working on a paper in my dorm and lost track of time. I'll be at the office shortly.]

If it weren't for Sally's message, Cordelia would have completely forgotten about her responsibilities. She glanced at her watch. It was almost nine.

"Busy?" Ronan asked sarcastically. "If you're that busy, you can leave now."

"Oh, it's not too serious," Cordelia responded awkwardly.

His comment was probably aimed at her dedication to her career and studies, at the expense of her child. She had left for three years, and even during breakfast, people were reaching out to her on Messenger.

After they finished eating, it was Cordelia who washed the dishes. She then grabbed her bag and told Ronan, "I have a meeting to attend. I need to go."
