The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 446

"You're overthinking!" Cordelia cast a glance at Ronan, then turned her head away.

"Let's go." Ronan shot her a brooding look.

He strode ahead, with Harold and Cordelia trailing behind. Cordelia was slightly panting from trying to keep up.

Cordelia noticed how tightly Ronan was clenching his fists. This time, Ronan was driving a humble-looking Phaeton, easily mistaken for an ordinary car.

After pulling up, Cordelia got into the backseat first. As Harold was about to get in, a voice came from behind, "Harold."

Harold stood on the steps of Empower Operations, conspicuous. He turned towards the voice and saw Samantha.

"Samantha." he called out.

"Come on, get in. My mom's shopping in the mall over there, I've been waiting here." Samantha had just parked her car and had been engrossed in her phone.

When Cordelia and Ronan had gotten into the car, she hadn't even looked up. Plus, Ronan was driving Emerson's car, which Samantha wasn't familiar with.

When she finally looked up, she saw Harold standing on the steps.

"Are you getting in or not?" Ronan asked Harold, rolling down the passenger side window.

"Aren't you going to get in?" Cordelia asked quickly, eager to limit Harold's interaction with Samantha. Moreover, if he didn't get in, it would be just her and Ronan in the car. Awkward.

"I can't park here too long. Hurry up." Samantha seemed impatient.

Harold knew that an angry girlfriend could be appeased, but an irked relative was a different story. He might be blacklisted in the family for life. Plus, Samantha had a public image. She'd even autographed something for him not so long ago. It seemed reasonable to join Samantha in her car.

"I'll find you at school," he told Cordelia.

Ronan's car sped away.

"Who were you talking to just now?" Samantha asked Harold.

"Oh, nobody. Just a coworker." Harold didn't want Samantha to think he was disregarding her for Cordelia.

In Ronan's car.

He glanced at Cordelia through the rearview mirror. Cordelia was looking out the window the whole time.
