In the dead of the night, someone had disconnected Deanna's oxygen tank.
The following day, when Leila arrived at the hospital room, she noticed no breath fogging up Deanna's oxygen mask. A sense of dread washed over her. Touching Deanna's body, she found it cold, and the nurse was nowhere to be found.
The doctor had assured her that Deanna's condition was stable for now. How could this happen? Could it be Ronan?
Leila slumped onto the floor, her eyes glazed over. Then, she broke down in loud sobs. "My poor girl, why did you leave your mother all alone? Oh Deanna, what did Ronan do..."
It was still early, and the nurses hadn't started their rounds yet. Hearing the wails from Deanna's room, they rushed in, along with some patients from the nearby rooms.
The nurses quickly checked Deanna and began the necessary procedures. They apologized to Leila, who remained unmoved, insisting on lodging a complaint against the hospital.
Leila's cries grew louder. "Deanna, my Deanna, you only had eyes for Ronan, but he's a complete jerk. He didn't even come to visit you, and to avoid paying medical bills, he even unplugged your oxygen. I'm calling the police."
Someone handed Leila a cellphone and she dialed 911.
After a detailed investigation, the police concluded that Deanna was murdered. Their suspicions were confirmed by the CCTV footage showing a man entering Deanna's room the previous night.
"What?" Leila was so scared that she was trembling. She hadn't actually expected Deanna to be murdered. She was just trying to tarnish Ronan's reputation for not paying up. But now, faced with the reality of murder, she was too scared to confront Ronan.
