The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 473

Cordelia stood up, leading Callum by the hand into the kitchen.

"I am going to make some egg tarts now, Callum. Do you want to help?"

"Sure."

......

At the same time, Ronan was sitting on the couch in Petra's house, leaning back slightly as he watched the playing child.

Petra stole glances at him now and then. Actually, Petra had Ronan's contact details but it was only after officially adopting Jayson that she began to communicate more with Ronan.

Whenever she sent Ronan a message, she would tremble like a leaf, her heart pounding as if a small rabbit was trapped inside. It was as if she had turned back into the eighteen-year-old girl, nervous, jittery. She lost her father at a young age, and Ronan, with his wise-beyond-years demeanor, filled the void in her young heart.

She still remembered a time when Ronan was tutoring her and the sunlight hit his face just right.

Yesterday, Ronan sent her a text, mentioning he was going to sign a contract with Empower Operations and would visit Jayson after. Petra, with shaking hands, replied with a single word: [Okay.]

Petra was now a professor with abundant time, unlike Cordelia who still had to write research papers in pursuit of professional titles. Moreover, Petra was more laid-back, tidying up the house early in the morning until the floor was spotless.

She never dared to hope that Ronan would reenter her life, let alone visit her home. The reason she adopted Jayson was simply to maintain some connection with Ronan. All of this felt surreal, like a dream.

Ronan came and sat in a chair, watching Jayson play nearby.

"The kid's kind of introverted, a bit thin." Ronan said, casting a glance at Jayson.

Petra nearly spilled her water in surprise, "Yes, he is. I try to make his favorite meals. Will… will you stay for dinner?"

"No, I have to pick up my son." Ronan glanced at his watch, and it was already five o'clock.
