When Cordelia bumped into Ronan, he was checking his watch.
"Skipped work?" Ronan's voice was always calm and deep.
"Mr. Jordan sent me to the tax office and said I didn't have to come back." Cordelia replied, seeming distracted.
Barney had finished his meal and said, "I'm going out for a walk. Enjoy your chatting."
With that, Barney left with a chuckle.
Ronan sat on the sofa, legs crossed, watching Cordelia.
After tidying up the dishes, Cordelia came out of the kitchen, picked up her tote bag from the table, and prepared to leave.
Ronan was quick to react, catching Cordelia's arm. The tote bag slid on the table, almost falling to the floor.
This was the second time Cordelia had ended up on his lap, the first time was when they were pretending to be lovey-dovey in front of Deanna.
"Are you leaving?" Ronan squinted, watching Cordelia who sat on him closely.
Cordelia's face turned red, even her ears were blushing, she looked upset.
She stared sternly ahead, "Didn't you tell me to move into the dorm? I've already seen Barney, so I should be going."
"Are you upset?" Ronan started to laugh.
Speaking of "upset", Cordelia remembered Ronan's wide eyes - now that was someone who was truly upset.
She snorted, "I'm not sure who has a bigger temper."
"Compared to me?" Ronan said, "Usually, I have a pretty good temper."
"Good?" Cordelia chuckled. Everyone in the company knew how tough Ronan was. He always had a cold expression, like a sign on his face read "Stay away or you're dead". He dared to say he was good-tempered.
"Not good?" Now, his voice became soft, indeed a "good temper".
"I'll keep my opinion."
"But you, when did you start obeying me? I tell you to go home and you do." Ronan asked her again.
"When did I not listen to you?" Cordelia turned her face, ready to unload her rage from these past few days on him, "If I don't obey, wouldn't you chew me up and spit me out?"
Just the thought of Ronan's wide eyes made Cordelia shiver.
"Chew you up and spit you out? Murder is something I dare not do, it's illegal." Ronan lowered his head and said with a smile.
"Really?" Ronan feigned surprise, "Not moved by me? Then wouldn't I die of heartbreak?"
"Then go ahead and die of heartbreak. Once you're dead, I'm your first-line inheritor, I can inherit all your assets." Cordelia said smugly.
Ronan laughed, "I forgot you're my spouse. You're right, killing the husband and seizing the property, that kind of drama, you can definitely pull it off."
Cordelia lowered her head, her heart was pounding, she was panting.
"Have you two made up?" At this moment, Barney's voice could be heard in the room.
Cordelia quickly got off Ronan's lap, her face flushed with embarrassment, while Ronan remained leisurely on the couch.
He looked at Cordelia with a playful gaze.
Cordelia blushed and hastily said, "Barney, why are you back so soon?"
"You didn't want me to come back? Makes sense, I should have given you two more time, my bad." Barney laughed.
Cordelia had never seen Barney laugh so happily, it seemed that he wasn't upset about losing the baby.
But Barney's words still made Cordelia blush, she left a "Barney, how come you're so good at joking?" and ran upstairs.
