The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 81

Brooklyn grabbed Cordelia's hand, trying to calm her down.

Deanna saw this and immediately said to Cordelia, "Alright then, where should I drop off the shirts for you?"

"Um..." Cordelia replied, "If you bring them to the office, I might run into him and he'll realize that I didn't actually get him any shirts. He might get mad, so can you drop them off at my dorm after work?"

"Sure thing. It's settled then." Deanna then took off.

"Are you a bit of a dunce or what? She's fooled you again and again, and you keep falling for it!" Brooklyn continued. "I even gave you a hint by grabbing your hand, but you didn't bat an eye. If Mr. Evans kicks you out again, don't expect me to take you in."

"How could I be so easily duped? Don't I know what she's really up to? Let's go back. There’s no need to buy shirts tonight. We'll save some dough." Cordelia was happy and had a triumphant smile on her face.

Brooklyn was puzzled, having no idea what Cordelia was thinking.

Cordelia had a good night's sleep that night. No one disturbed her, and she didn't have to get up early the next day. She slept for a solid ten hours and went to work the next day feeling refreshed.

Not long after she started working, someone knocked on her desk.

Cordelia looked up to see Ronan standing there.

She instinctively stood up from her chair. "Mr. Evans."

This was the first time Ronan had come to the Finance Department.

The other employees were nervous. Although they all pretended to be working hard, they were curious about Ronan's visit and held their breath to listen to the conversation between Cordelia and Ronan.

"Where's the shirt you bought me?" Ronan asked with a frown.

"Huh?" Cordelia thought to herself. "I'm going home tonight. Does he really need to come to the office to get his shirt?"

She answered him. "I spent all night at Lumos Plaza yesterday, but I couldn't find the right one. I'll go again tonight."

"Don't play games with me." Ronan frowned.

"What games am I playing? I have to find a shirt that suits you, don't I?" Cordelia was getting a bit frustrated and started defending herself.

"So if you can't find one, you won't go home?" Ronan asked.

"Yes. The villa is too far from Lumos Plaza." Cordelia complained a bit.

"Do you find it more comfortable to stay in the dorm than at home?" He asked again.

Cordelia felt like something was off when she heard the word “comfortable.” What was he implying?

She eyed Ronan's outfit and saw that he was wearing a black shirt. He looked very handsome, tall, and fit; he was very attractive.

"Hurry up!" With that, Ronan left.

Just now, Ronan had glanced at Cordelia's desk and saw a book: The CPA Success Blueprint.
