After Ronan said that, Cordelia decided to hide in the bathroom. She was too self-conscious to come out. Her feet, which were warm just a while ago, had turned cold since leaving the hot water. Ronan's words sent shivers down her spine.
"I didn't!" Jamie defended himself.
Ronan snorted lightly, "You have the guts to confront me, but no courage to admit it! I hope you haven't done anything you shouldn't have."
"So, did you set up the Audit Department for Cordelia?" Jamie asked, finding it hard to believe. He was baffled at what game Ronan was playing.
"Yes. What about it?" Ronan said. It wasn't entirely for Cordelia, mainly because the financial system of Lumos Enterprises was so massive, and he didn't trust Jordan that much. Jordan had limited capabilities and some selfish thoughts of his own. Cordelia was the catalyst for the establishment of the Audit Department.
"So, you set up the Audit Department for Cordelia, but in the end, she didn't join?" Jamie asked disdainfully.
"You don't need to worry about that. It's the result of a discussion between Cordelia and me. As for the reason, it's none of your business." Ronan lit a cigarette, squinting his eyes as he sized Jamie up.
He knew that Jamie must've been provoked by Adrian, hence his coming over.
Jamie stood there for a long time, then walked away dejectedly.
When the room finally quieted down, Janice came out of the bathroom and headed downstairs. Cordelia also came out, wearing her slippers.
She stood by Ronan like a student who did something wrong in front of the teacher. With her head down and hands in front, she said in a voice that was barely above a whisper, "Don't be mad!" She even carefully tugged at Ronan's sleeve.
"What did you say?" Ronan looked up at her. Her face was full of remorse.
"Please don't be mad!" Cordelia raised her voice slightly, her tone somewhat changing.
"Still ordering me around?" Clearly, Ronan was not pleased.
"Please, it's all my fault. I wanted to change jobs but didn't tell you." Cordelia said, pouting.
Ronan glanced at Cordelia, "It’s fine this time, but you need to listen to me in the future."
Cordelia nodded, knowing that she had been caught by Ronan this time. He would have an "excuse", making it difficult for her to disregard his words in the future.
She didn't know how Ronan found out, but if he set up the Audit Department for her, what more could she ask for?
