The Day His Demands Broke My Water novel Chapter 93

He hadn't left yet, still standing with his group of friends on the balcony, smoking.

In the silence, someone uncertainly spoke up: “Could that really be Susan's boyfriend?”

Immediately, someone else rebutted: “Impossible! She's been chasing Peter for years. Just half a month ago, she was working to buy a ring for him!”

“That expensive ring, she just bought it because she said so. She's done everything for him. How could she suddenly have a boyfriend?”

“Besides, with her conditions, who would even want her?”

I recognized the voice—it was that man, Leo.

He was still trying his best to belittle me, but no one contradicted him.

After a while, Peter extinguished his cigarette and firmly said, “It's just an act! Susan's been using these tricks since she was little. You think I'll fall for this?”

“She's threatening us with the police to make sure we don't expose her lie, but I'll follow her and see how she ends this time.”

Everyone else chimed in.

“Yeah, it's definitely an act. She's probably doing this to get Peter to look at her for once.”

“She wishes. Too bad we're not falling for it!”

“To be honest, she's probably been watching too many of those online ‘chasing wife' dramas, thinking that if she finds some man, Peter will beg her on his knees. Ridiculous!”

“Looks like there's going to be a show tonight. Just for Susan's little act, Peter must make sure we drink till we drop!”

Amid all the flattery, Peter's face softened, and he gave that familiar smirk.

But he still felt the need to retort: “If you want to drink, you can. Linda doesn't like me drinking, so I've quit!”

The others shook their heads in amusement, marveling that Linda had turned a once wild man into a whipped one.

But Peter didn't look angry at all. Instead, he wore a look of contentment, as if being whipped was the greatest compliment.

I quietly watched them, a sudden memory flashing in my mind. I recalled the year Peter first learned to drink.

Out of curiosity, he drank several nights in a row, which led to a stomach perforation and a hospital stay.

I was terrified, staying up all week to take care of him in the hospital.
