The Day His Demands Broke My Water novel Chapter 94

Friends?

But I no longer need them.

The man standing at the front smiled and approached me. "Miss Susan, Mr. Sam asked me to escort you inside. He's ready for you."

I ignored Peter and his group, following the man deeper into the venue.

With each step I took, the expressions on Peter's group grew darker.

The further we went, the more luxurious the decorations became.

Peter must have realized that, with my abilities, I could never have arranged something of this scale.

When we reached the innermost part, everyone gasped in awe.

I, too, was momentarily stunned by the opulence before me.

Behind me, whispers began to circulate.

"Isn't this a bit much for just an act?"

"Susan can't be serious, can she…?"

No one answered.

Sam came over, taking my hand and leading me further into the flowers.

He gazed at me, his eyes full of affection and a gentle smile.

I felt a little uneasy under his gaze, but couldn't help glancing back at him.

His lips curled into a confident smile, as if certain of the outcome.

If it weren't for the slight tremor in his hand as he pulled out the ring, I would have thought he was perfectly composed.

The restlessness in my heart suddenly calmed when I realized he was just as nervous as I was.

Sam dropped to one knee in front of me, his voice trembling but controlled: “Miss Susan, will you marry me?”

I couldn't stop the tears from welling up in my eyes, but without hesitation, I nodded firmly.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Peter's face turn ashen, his fists clenching as if he were about to charge at us.

But Sam had already arranged for security, and they immediately held him back.

I didn't spare him another glance.

Sam stood up, overwhelmed with excitement, and pulled me into a tight embrace.

I could see he wanted to kiss me.

But he hesitated, unsure.

I smiled and kissed him first.

He immediately responded, deepening the kiss.

At that moment, the fireworks outside the floor-to-ceiling windows exploded in a brilliant display, as if celebrating our union.

"Susan!"

A voice, loud and desperate, shattered the romantic atmosphere like a thunderclap.

Dazed from the kiss, I turned to look at the person calling my name.

It was Peter.

I couldn't read his expression.

“But Peter, that was something you didn't want. You even shattered and trampled it with your own hands.”

“I'm a person, not your pet who can be summoned and discarded at will. So, why are you blaming me? You're the one who deserves it.”

My words left Peter on the verge of collapse.

He could no longer fight back and was kicked to the ground by security.

But soon, he scrambled to his feet again, pleading with me, “I didn't want this.

But back then, so many people liked you, and I was afraid... afraid that they would take you away from me! I had no choice but to hurt you again and again, just to make sure you really liked me!”

“I don't even know why it turned out like this, but I didn't mean to. Please forgive me, just this once?”

“You said you would marry me. I promise, I'll go back and ask your parents for your hand!”

I glanced around, my eyes landing on the few people standing beside him.

“When you said a lot of people liked me, were you talking about these so-called ‘brothers' of yours?”

The few men froze, not daring to meet my gaze.

I had always known. After all, these were the same people who had confessed to me in the past.

But when I clearly rejected them and expressed my feelings for Peter, they kept showing up by his side, one after another.

From that point, Peter had slowly changed.

I had advised him to distance himself from these people, but he wouldn't listen.

Instead, he began to degrade and humiliate me, allowing them to do so.

It must have delighted them to see the girl they once admired now groveling before another man.
