Cindy’s face gradually became stiff.
“Selena!”
Selena smiled slowly. Her temples relaxed slightly.
“Do you dare to spread this recording? You’re not afraid of hurting me. You’re afraid of Eric and Nicole’s retaliation, right?”
Cindy’s expression suddenly changed.
She stared at Selena fiercely.
Selena was much smarter than she thought.
“What benefit can I get from helping you? Eric will kill me, and you’re not the kind of person who will repay one’s kindness. If that’s the case, I would’ve run into a dead end. Ms. Yeager, you’re right. I was married once, so I should be more sensible than others. A wise person doesn’t fall in love. Since I’m with Eric, what’s the point of catching feelings? It’s best to just think about money. I have his credit card now. It’ll be a waste if I don’t spend it.”
After Selena finished speaking, she let out a long sigh of relief and stood up.
She looked down at the pale Cindy and smiled.
“Ms. Yeager, let me teach you a way which may make him show mercy.”
Cindy raised her eyes, which were filled with tears.
However, she still did not want to admit defeat.
Selena said, “Surrender. Use your freedom in exchange for Yeager Corporation’s safety. I think he will be lenient. He’s not a bad person.”
Cindy was shocked. “Why should I…”
Before she finished speaking, she suddenly thought of something and looked at Selena in disbelief.
“You… He…”
If Selena knew, Eric must have known it too.
It turned out that Eric already knew that Cindy was involved in that car accident.
Cindy suddenly felt chills running down her back.
Her body trembled involuntarily.
Selena walked out without saying a word.
She stood at the door. The sun shone warmly on her body and wrapped her in a gentle embrace.
However, Selena lost the good mood she was in when she first went inside. She felt like she had just escaped from the ice cellar. She was so cold that even the scorching sun could not melt her frozen body.
On the opposite side was Ferguson Corporation. The high-rise building shot into the sky.
At this moment, the concrete forest that enveloped her made her feel suffocatingly cold.
Selena wanted to turn around and leave. She wanted to go back to her bar and the room that truly belonged to her.
She had no right to ask Eric why he said that, let alone ask if he liked her a little bit.
She would have no dignity if she did.
Thus, Selena could not do it.
Selena took a deep breath. The heavy burden on her chest could kill her.
Without hesitation, she turned around, took a taxi, and left.
In her current state, she could not and did not want to drive.
Back at the bar, it was probably time for lunch, so Chaz was eating boxed lunches with the workers.
Everyone wore hard hats as they talked and laughed while eating.
Chaz was not as clean-cut as usual. He was sitting down on the steps with an old newspaper under him while he devoured his lunch.
He did not raise his head until Selena came to him.
He grinned excitedly.
“Oh my god! Mr. Ferguson is really willing to spend money on you. He bought you a six-figure dress just like that! Boss, don’t forget me when you’re rich!”
Selena could not help but chuckle.
“I should really give you a raise. You’re a manager, but you have to sit here and eat lunch. How pitiful.”
Chaz said excitedly, “Of course, you must give me a raise! I can’t eat this lunch for nothing.”
Selena sighed.
“I can’t give you a raise… We have to tighten our belts and live with what we have. My wallet will be empty after the renovation is done.”

The readers' comments on the novel: The Divorced Billionaire Heiress
I liked this book and wanted to read it. As I have moved into the chapters, I have found that it is unreadable due to typographical errors, including sentences that are incomplete, complete gibberish, missing elements. This is not just some misspelled words. It is actually unreadable. If you decide to fix this, let me know and I will read it....
