Justin got an earful out of nowhere.

“I was wrong, Bella. I should have known better than to drink too much. I was out of line.” Axel owned up to his mistake, not wanting to yell at his sister.

“So you kissed Roza because of the alcohol? Hmph! Men are irresponsible flirts!”

“No…”

Axel closed his eyes and shook his head. “I was conscious and aware when I kissed her. I like her, Bella, but she doesn’t feel the same way about me. We’re not meant to be. Besides, she doesn’t want to get married, and she’s just after the thrill. We don’t share the same perspectives on life. I doubt our relationship will get far even if we get together. I’m sorry for not being able to give you a sister-in-law.”

“Axel!”

Without another word, Axel left the villa in dejection.

“Bella, I’ll see Axel out.”

Axel’s hailed ride had arrived, but Justin stopped him just before he got into the car.

“Hang on, Axel. I just need a quick word with you.”

Axel was surprised. “What’s up?”

“It can take time and effort to bond. Even though the feelings aren’t mutual in the beginning, you can always put your best foot forward if you really like Ms. Walker. Maybe she will open up to you eventually. Try not to give yourself any room for regrets,” Justin persuaded.

Axel narrowed his eyes. “Why didn’t you fall in love with Bella in the three years you were married?”

Justin choked.

Axel was definitely in the right line of work. He hit where it hurt the most. “It took quite a bit of life-threatening situations and chaos before you two reconciled.”
