The Divorced Heiress Revenge (Bella Thompson) novel Chapter 1499

Yasmin felt extremely uneasy seeing the anguish and pain in Ryan’s crimson eyes.

In truth, she had never agreed with Ryan’s “tough love” approach. She felt it was too cruel for someone as fragile as Carrie. But the reality of Shannon facing a death sentence couldn’t stay hidden forever. It was best to address it now rather than let it become a bigger problem later on.

It was better to face the harsh truth now than suffer long-term pain.

Yasmin realized she had underestimated how much influence Ryan had over Carrie, or how intense and unpredictable the gentle and obedient Carrie could become during a relapse.

“Yasmin, take Carrie back to her room to rest,” Justin said as he turned toward Ryan worriedly. “Ryan, you’re not in good condition either. Let Yasmin take care of Carrie for now.”

Yasmin gently lifted Carrie from Ryan’s embrace and gracefully took her upstairs, moving with steady steps.

Bella and Justin were stunned. This female secretary, who has been raised by Ryan since childhood, could easily rival a man in strength.

“I just wanted Carrie to be able to accept reality. I didn’t expect it to turn out like this,” Ryan muttered, his voice filled with regret.

Ryan experienced a deep sense of emptiness. His chest felt suffocated, and he struggled to catch his breath. His body and mind felt like they were under intense pressure. “Shannon never truly cared about Carrie... I thought... I thought Carrie had come to terms with this. I didn’t think she would.”

“You only thought! Have you ever considered Carrie’s feelings at all?!” Bella was even angrier now. She strode up to Ryan, grabbed his collar, and continued, “From the moment you flirted with Carrie and brought her to live with you, you kept her away from Shannon and the Salvador family.”
