The Divorced Heiress Revenge (Bella Thompson) novel Chapter 1597

James’ forced demolition of a village to build a resort had caused significant trouble. He was overwhelmed and naturally had no time to manage public scrutiny. It was Lance who managed to promptly handle the situation before it got out of control.

In the chairman’s office today, Lance nearly wrecked his entire office in front of his two remaining sons.

“Was your brain eaten by a dog or something? Forced demolitions are illegal in our country, and yet you dared to do it overseas! Do you think there are no police or governments in other countries?!”

Lance gritted his teeth and jabbed James’ forehead with his finger angrily, forcing him to retreat step by step. “You pig brain! You’re even dumber than a pig! Are you trying to drag the Iverson family down even more?!”

Christopher stood to the side, lightly adjusting his gold-rimmed glasses and smiling sinisterly.

James’ face turned red with shame and anger, his dignity completely destroyed by his father’s scolding. But he refused to accept it and angrily said, “Dad! We were set up by Asher! The land he transferred to me was problematic from the start! He set a trap for me!”

Lance frowned deeply upon hearing this.

“James, it’s not your first day in the business world. Before signing the contract, didn’t you send someone to conduct an on-site inspection?” Christopher asked, shaking his head in disbelief.

“Why did you just take Asher’s word for it? Do you trust him that much?”

James glared at him with rage. His gums ached from clenching his teeth so tightly. He had been too eager to gain credit in front of his father. In his desperation to outshine Christopher, it led him to make such a rookie mistake and fall into Asher’s trap.

How could the Thompson family give away such valuable land just because of a mere secretary?

James thought bitterly, ‘If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. The slice of heavenly pie could very well be a deadly trap!’
