Bella pouted and said, “I thought you only had eyes for me and avoided all other women. Turns out, you just hadn’t met someone to your liking.”

The air in the safety corridor was thick with jealousy.

“You better not let it happen again, you rascal!” Bella glared at him and punched his shoulder.

“But Bella, you’ve misunderstood me.” Justin held her close, looking down at her face. “I paid attention to Clarice because I had a suspicion.”

“What do you mean?”

“The last time I went to Meridan to visit my brother, she was the one who fetched me. She had a unique fragrance, similar to orchids. I vaguely remember that Christopher also had this scent.”

Justin’s voice lowered, a contemplative look in his eyes. “I pretended to want to buy you perfume just so I could ask her about that scent.
