“Ax, you said that Christopher killed someone? What’s going on?” Bella asked as soon as they were settled inside.

“This morning, I went to search Christopher’s office. I found a hidden pinhole camera inside one of the books on his shelf.” Axel’s voice quivered with excitement.

Justin and Bella exchanged stunned glances.

“Did Christopher install it himself?” Bella pressed. “He’s always been devious. It’s likely that he was monitoring himself while also keeping tabs on anything happening in his office. If he caught any higher-ups from other companies doing something compromising, he could use it to blackmail them. He’s done it many times before.”

“I don’t think it’s that simple,” Axel said, taking a deep breath. “I took the camera with me and reviewed the footage. Guess what I found?”

Bella was nearly frantic. “Don’t keep us in suspense. Just tell us!”

“The footage caught the moment of Uncle Lance’s collapse in the office that day!”

“What?!” Justin and Bella exclaimed simultaneously.

Axel took out his phone and pulled up the video to show them.

The video recorded everything that happened that day—the interaction between Lance and Christopher, their confrontation, and Christopher eventually watching his father collapse at his feet, taking away his medication, and leaving him to die.

It also captured Christopher’s incriminating confession.

“I’m giving you only one option. Draft an official statement right now, citing your poor health as the reason for your formal retirement, and name me the Chairman of the Iverson Group.”

“If you don’t agree, I’ll play this video on the big screen outside this building. Not only that, but all ten thousand employees of the Iverson Group will receive this video first thing tomorrow morning.”

Bella shook her head in disbelief. Even though the odds of bringing Christopher to justice had increased, she couldn’t find any joy in the situation.

Sometimes, she wondered if Christopher and his mother had not suffered such unfair treatment in the Iverson family and instead had grown up in a warm, harmonious household, would this tragedy have happened?
