Bella said, “Previously, Jonah told Clarence that he was innocent. Now, Clarice forcibly had him transferred. Could it be that Clarice was the one who facilitated Jonah’s injustice?”
After being prompted by Bella, Steven’s thoughts finally clicked into place. “Clarice is afraid that Jonah might expose her scheme, so she used her position as a prison doctor to collaborate with the people inside and urgently had him transferred?!”
Bella lifted the corner of her lips in approval. “If she didn’t have ulterior motives, why would she take such a risky and elaborate action? But I don’t believe the idea was hers. After all, in my view, she’s just someone’s lackey.”
Steven suddenly understood. “You mean... The mastermind behind this is Grant?”
“It’s possible.” Bella’s sharp gaze shone like starlight. “So, now we need to find Jonah. If possible, we must protect him. He could be the key figure in revealing the conspiracy behind Grant!”
“Ms. Bella, I just asked around. Clarice left half an hour ago and disappeared without a trace. She might have even switched vehicles midway. How are we supposed to find her?”
Bella pondered for a moment, her eyes gleaming. She picked up her phone and dialed Drew’s number.
“Bella, I missed you so much!” Drew’s youthful voice rang through, sounding so joyful.
Bella scoffed lightly, teasing him. “Drew, you’re not a lone wolf anymore. You’re a married man now, so I think you should tone it down a bit.”
“Your sister-in-law isn’t petty enough to get jealous! She loves you even more than I do!”
“Drew, are you on official duty abroad?”
“Just captured two globally wanted spies. I have a few days off and was planning to head home to cuddle with your sister-in-law.”
Speaking of Yvonne, Drew’s excitement grew, and he momentarily forgot about Bella’s lingering heartbreak over the breakup. “What do you think I should get for Yvonne? She never lets me spend money on her, and she’s not interested in any of those luxury goods women like. I’m losing my mind trying to figure this out! It’d be so rude to come home empty-handed!”
Bella sighed bitterly. “Drew, it’s not that she doesn’t like those things. It’s just that she’s grateful to be loved by you and feels insecure, so she never asks you for anything.”
Drew paused, his voice suddenly hoarse. “Bella... Is it really like that?”
“A woman knows another woman best. So Drew, don’t wait for her to ask. You need to be proactive and figure out what she really wants.” Bella’s voice softened, though a bitter taste lingered in her heart.
She had once had true love, so she understood better than anyone. Now that she had lost it, she hoped the people around her could hold onto that happiness.
