Nigel was an old man in his twilight years, yet in the presence of the board—which consisted of men still in their prime—he remained sharp and dignified. His silver hair did nothing to dull his imposing presence.
Seated with perfect composure, he exuded such an undeniable authority that Gregory was instantly pulled back to the days when he had worked beneath the crushing weight of his father’s rule.
“Chairman Salvador, esteemed board members, I trust no one objects to this old man attending today’s meeting.” Nigel’s gaze swept across the room, his smile never quite reaching his eyes.
The board members hurried to respond. “You are a director of Salvador Corporation. It is only right!”
Nigel gave a slow, deliberate nod. “The company is weathering a storm. The stock price is volatile, and all eyes are upon us. You all know I had retired, choosing to step away from business to enjoy my later years.
“I had hoped to entrust the company to my children and grandchildren to avoid overstepping and earning their resentment. But time and again, crises have arisen. As a director, I cannot simply stand aside. It is my duty to shoulder this burden alongside all of you.”
Gregory pressed his lips together until they turned pale, yet he had no choice but to agree.
For nearly 20 years, he had fought to take his younger brother’s place. After relentless effort, he had finally secured his father’s approval—finally earned the right to wield control over the Salvador Corporation.
Now, the old man had suddenly returned to the boardroom, his every word steeped in concern for the company.
Gregory’s expression flickered. His face burned with shame, as if his father had just slapped him.
“Gregory.” Nigel's voice rang out, firm and commanding.
Gregory straightened at once. “Yes, Father.”
Nigel’s expression was solemn. “I understand that after recent events, the company has suffered a severe public backlash. You are preparing to vote on whether Grant, as president, should be held accountable.”
Grant remained still, his dark gaze unreadable.
Gregory cleared his throat. “Yes…”
“Set that matter aside for now. I have something important to announce.”
The room fell silent. Everyone waited.
“The Salvador Corporation is about to welcome a new board member.”
A ripple of astonishment spread through the room.
Justin and Grant both leaned forward, their backs leaving the chairs, eyes fixed on Nigel’s calm face in disbelief.
Gregory’s eyes widened. “A new board member? Who?!”
“It is me.” The voice was clear, melodic, and carried an effortless authority.

Please update regularly...
Thanks for bringing Ryan back. Totally missed him...
I am reading this book from last year. Its very long story but at start i find enjoyable.Still there is no closure , dragging the story and the writer is running out of ideas. Its frustrating that they don't upload chapters regularly....
If you are about to start reading this “ongoing” book….don’t. It’s a great read but mo regular updates and leaves you hanging. Took me months to get to chapter 2370 (this app only has it to chapter 2368….learned to search different links to read ahead a bit). These ongoing books are just not worth the time since their author (s) take days/weeks to upload new chapters. Again great sultry, long drawn out at times, but not worth the frustration of no new updates....
No update in 6 days!!! Really??? I’m about over this story and ready to move on, the wait is to long....
Pls update regularly or least let us know why it's taking so long...
Ok I was thinking last night. I really hope the author hasn’t been affected by hurricane Helene. Not sure where they are located but I hope everyone is safe...
It’s been 87 years since the update with only 2 chapters. 🙄...
