“Mr. Bailiff.” The medical staff bowed immediately, their posture rigid with deference.
Everyone in the base knew of Clarice and Jace—the ones who held authority and dictated the rules. To others, they were untouchable, standing at the very pinnacle of power.
None of them truly understood the purpose of this place. They lived in ignorance, unaware that beyond their world existed forces even greater, masters even more formidable.
“How has she been these past few days?” Jace asked, his face unreadable.
“She has shown some signs of rejection, but so far, there is no sign of organ failure. It’s truly surprising. She appears delicate, yet her body is unexpectedly resilient, stronger than many men.”
The medic let out a mirthless chuckle. “But today is the fourth injection. Who knows if she will survive? Last month, four test subjects did not make it past the fourth dose. They were taken straight to the incinerator for disposal.”
Jace’s jaw clenched. A shadow passed over his sharp features. When he spoke, his voice was low, rough, edged with something dangerous. “I told you before. She must be kept alive. She has a purpose.”
His gaze darkened. “If you keep pushing her like this, she won’t last much longer.”
The medic hesitated. “But Dr. Amaryllis instructed us to proceed with standard testing. There were no special arrangements—”
Jace pressed his lips into a thin line. In an instant, he understood Clarice’s cruel intentions.
Grant had hidden Yvonne here for two reasons. First, because it was a place no one would think to search, and second, because keeping her alive meant she could be used as leverage—a bargaining chip and a threat against Bella and Drew.
But Clarice was no fool. She knew Grant did not care whether Yvonne lived or died.
If Yvonne perished in the experiment, it would simply mean she was too weak. A fitting end for someone like her. Grant would not punish anyone for it.
Jace exhaled slowly, then extended his hand. “Give me the drug. I will administer it myself. You are dismissed.”
Without waiting for a response, he seized the medicine box from the medic’s grasp.
The medic hesitated but ultimately said nothing, turning and exiting the room.
Jace pushed open the heavy door, stepping into the dimly lit space. The door clicked shut behind him. He locked it.

Please upload Chapter 2468 and other remaining chapter .....
Please update regularly...
Thanks for bringing Ryan back. Totally missed him...
I am reading this book from last year. Its very long story but at start i find enjoyable.Still there is no closure , dragging the story and the writer is running out of ideas. Its frustrating that they don't upload chapters regularly....
If you are about to start reading this “ongoing” book….don’t. It’s a great read but mo regular updates and leaves you hanging. Took me months to get to chapter 2370 (this app only has it to chapter 2368….learned to search different links to read ahead a bit). These ongoing books are just not worth the time since their author (s) take days/weeks to upload new chapters. Again great sultry, long drawn out at times, but not worth the frustration of no new updates....
No update in 6 days!!! Really??? I’m about over this story and ready to move on, the wait is to long....
Pls update regularly or least let us know why it's taking so long...
