Ranita's heart was struck hard, causing a sharp, throbbing pain. She wanted to casually greet them, but her feet felt as though they were nailed to the ground, making it impossible to move forward.
"Ranita, why aren't you moving..." Dylan caught up from behind, and his face darkened as he witnessed the couples hugging and embracing in public.
"Oh... Ranita?" Just at that moment, Shannon spotted them, and her voice rang out in a surprised, delicate tone.
Brendon looked back at her before gently moving Shannon aside and walking towards Ranita. "Why are you here? Is something wrong?"
Ranita was at a loss for words.
"We came to visit a friend! Ranita is perfectly fine; Mr. Stuart, you don't need to worry," Dylan said, stepping forward to block her. His gaze lightly landed on Shannon, and he wore a sly grin. "Oh, Shannon is swaying back and forth, looking like she's about to fall flat on her face. Mr. Stuart, shouldn't you give her a hand?"
Shannon's face blushed, and she pouted, "Mr. Webster, why do you have to be so mean in your words? Did I offend you somehow?"
"Why beat around the bush? I just find you annoying, alright?"
"Dylan! Be more considerate with your words!" Brendon's voice was laced with frost as he shot a cold glance at Dylan and led Ranita a few steps away.
In a hushed tone, he asked, "How did you get here? Did you come with Dylan? Did he go to your apartment looking for you?"
"Just as Dylan mentioned, we came to see Eve," Ranita replied after a moment of silence. She pushed Brendon's hand away and gave him an indifferent look. "We're in a hurry, so we'll go ahead."
Ranita glanced briefly at Shannon before heading to Eve's hospital room.
