The Divorcee Who Shines novel Chapter 157

Chapter 157 Does Not Count

Strictly speaking, Ranita didn't have the right to interfere with Brendon's decision, but she couldn't help feeling reluctant. This reluctance had started as a small spark, but ever since Brendon had chased her to the resort, it had grown into a raging fire.

"Didn't you say you were going to stay with me?" Ranita clenched her pajamas, creating deep creases, mirroring her current state of mind.

Brendon didn't look too good. "Ranita, I'm really sorry."

Ranita didn't want to hear this sentence; it was too heartbreaking. Brendon put on his shirt, sat on the edge of the bed, and covered her with the blanket. He tucked her in and told her, "Get some rest. Don't forget to apply the ointment tomorrow, and call me if you need anything."

His sudden tenderness left Ranita even more upset. She lowered her eyes, and replied calmly, "You can go. Don't keep Miss Murphy waiting."

Brendon left in a hurry without any luggage. Ranita was now lying on the big bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. Suddenly, her phone started ringing, and she turned on the light to see that it was Eve making a video call.

"Darling, are you sleeping?" Eve was half-reclining with a pretty, sulky face, the kind you'd make when someone owed you a lot of money.

"Why aren't you sleeping yet?" Ranita forced a smile, trying to look more awake. "You're such an inconsiderate patient."

Eve pouted. "What about you? Why aren't you sleeping?"

"I was woken up by you," Ranita paused before asking, "why are you calling me so late? Is something wrong?"

There was silence on Eve's end for a few seconds before she spoke again. "Have you seen the trending news?"

"No, what's going on?" Ranita could already guess it had something to do with Shannon and Brendon.
