Shannon asked tentatively.
The phone call earlier had been intended to provoke Ranita, but if Ranita were to report it to Brendon, she didn't know how he would react.
"It's already late; Ranita should be asleep by now." After pausing briefly, he continued, "I called Caleb just now. I suddenly left the resort, and there was no one to take care of Ranita on her side, so I asked Caleb to go there."
Shannon felt triumphant in her heart. She knew that she was still the most important person in Brendon's heart. Ranita was sure to have a sleepless night tonight! Shannon was in a great mood, and her voice was sweet and coquettish, "Brendon, I'm sorry. I've caused you trouble again!"
"When I'm feeling better, I'll personally apologize to Ranita," Shannon said.
Brendon nodded. "Ranita won't hold it against you."
Brendon knew Ranita's personality well – calm and collected. She wouldn't get upset over something so small.
"That's great news! I was worried that Ranita would be angry with me. After all, she's going through a tough time and needs someone by her side," Shannon said empathetically, but her hand was on Brendon's arm. "Thank you for coming to keep me company, Brendon. It means a lot to me."
Brendon comforted Shannon for a bit before leaving.
Ranita couldn't sleep because of the pain in her leg from cramping. It felt like it had gone numb from the pain alone as she tossed and turned until finally calling Steve.
"Ranita, why are you calling me so late? Is everything okay?" Steve asked hoarsely.
"Dr. Pearson, sorry to bother you at this hour but my leg is cramping badly... I was wondering if there is any way to relieve the pain?"
Cramps weren't anything serious but only those who have experienced them know how painful they can be.
