Chapter 199 Venting Grievances

"Why not?" paused Ranita before explaining further, "Even if I haven't terminated my contract with Stuart's Corp., I can still undertake other projects independently without breaching any agreements."

"You're also helping Steve translate academic reports - how many more things don't I know about yet?" Brendon rubbed his fingers together thoughtfully while scrutinizing her expression closely.

There were plenty of things he didn't know! But instead of confessing any secrets, Ranita simply pursed lips tightly and said, "I work hard for money – who I collaborate or work alongside isn't really important."

"So why can't you continue working for Stuart's Corp.?"

"What do you think?" countered back a puzzled-looking but defiantly-toned voice from Ranita which left Brendon momentarily speechless since he couldn't come up with an answer right away.

Just then Ranita's phone rang loudly interrupting their conversation - It was Eve calling in excitement.

"Ranita have you checked Twitter yet? Hurry up and check it out!"

"What happened?" Ranita asked, unaware of the online drama as she rarely paid attention to it.

"Hahaha! I'm so happy right now, I just want to crack open a cold one and celebrate your vindication. Shannon and Paityn got what they deserved!" Eve laughed loudly enough for Brendon to hear.

Ranita apologized to Brendon with a gesture and whispered, "She's just blunt. She didn't mean any harm towards Miss Murphy."

"Who are you talking to?" Eve's ears perked up as she overheard. "Is Brendon next to you?"

Ranita nodded before hearing Eve's rant. "Ha! It wasn't malicious towards Shannon; it was disgusting!"

"If he has a problem with it, tell him to come find me," Eve boasted fearlessly. But Ranita knew better than to let her anger provoke Brendon since Eve worked in the entertainment industry and didn't want any trouble with investors.

"I understand. I'll call you after dinner," Ranita said before hanging up the phone, noticing that Brendon looked upset.
