The Educator novel Chapter 22

I walk up to my room and take a long hot bath and it’s already ten in the evening. I walk out to the room and walk back downstairs. Elliot’s room is already lit with lights. He’s in his clothes and already in a meeting. I walk towards the kitchen and get something to drink and eat. I ended up hungry after everything that happened this morning. I got a can of Coke a couple of chocolate bars. I came back and Elliot is still on the phone. He mutes his phone and looks at me, “Are you hungry? We can go grab dinner”

I no my head, “Super starving”

“Give me ten minutes and we’ll order food. We can watch anything you want tonight” he says.

I smile, “Elliot, I’m fine. Just do your thing and I’ll check out the menu. I’ll order dinner”

I walk over and get the menu. I order appetizers, mains and desserts. After I order, I walk and settle next to Elliot. I scroll through my phone and check my messages. I’ve gotten messages from friends and family asking me about the pictures that I posted the other day. People have been asking if we’re finally doing good as a married couple and my friends are sending me link about articles, our photos and speculations. I was worried but it felt like it was something new, at least it wasn’t a scandal on being bankrupt.

Elliot’s call ends in about thirty minutes and just then, our food arrives. Elliot hands the room service boy a big tip and brings in all the food in his room. He sets up the television and puts on my favorite series.

I hand Elliot my phone and show him the articles. He reads it and laughs a little, “Where did you get this?” he asks.

I smile, Elliot, can we talk about this?”

He reaches for my hand, “Let’s talk about it tomorrow but I would like to tell you that Eli, my intentions are good. I am surprised at where we are and whatever this is, I hope this works for us. I am happy, Eli and I hope you are too” he tells me.

I smile at him, “Elliot, I am happy. I feel as if all of this was meant to happen to us. I just want to be sure that we are both on the same page and neither of us will get hurt or be on the edge”
