Samuel grabbed Kylie by the waist, locking her in his embrace. With his other hand, he took her phone and said in an indifferent voice laced with danger, "I'll make the call."

Kylie quickly snatched the phone back. "I'll do it!"

Late at night, a sleek white supercar pulled up in front of the dazzling, gold-lit entrance of Zouk Lounge, which was an exclusive, top-tier private club.

Having money alone wasn't enough to get in. Members had to pass multiple layers of vetting. How could Kylie have free access to a place like this?

Owen opened the door to a private lounge and was caught off guard when he saw Samuel inside.

"Mr. Vance." He recovered quickly and greeted Samuel before turning to Kylie. "Kyls, do you know Mr. Vance?"

"I…" Kylie had just opened her mouth when an arm wrapped around her, pulling her onto a firm lap. A strong hand pressed against her waist, locking her in place.

The sudden crisp scent of cedarwood mixed with a trace of something uniquely masculine stole her breath, making her heart skip a beat. She instinctively struggled, but it was useless.

The grip around her didn't budge an inch. She turned in shock, staring at the man beside her.

Samuel exhaled a slow stream of smoke, his lips nearly grazing her cheek. "Aren't you and Owen supposed to be best friends? And yet, he doesn't know about us?"

Owen stiffened. He noticed Kylie's tensed nervousness and her subtle resistance. His blood ran hot, and he shot up from the plush leather couch.

"Mr. Vance, Kyls is a shy woman. If she's uncomfortable, I hope you'll respect her."

He stared at Samuel, whose posture was intimately possessive. If not for the complete lack of warmth in his expression, it would've been easy to mistake them for a couple deeply in love.

Samuel let out a low chuckle. "I happen to like how she's shy in public but behind closed doors…"

"Samuel!" Kylie blurted out, panicked. She was terrified he'd say something even worse.

Her face turned red. Thankfully, the dim lighting of the lounge hid her embarrassment.
