Samuel extended his arm, trapping Kylie in his embrace. His voice was husky and laced with dominance.

"So you want what's on the plate? Then I'll give it to you. Clean yourself up and come to my room." He spoke like a ruler bestowing a decree, then turned to head upstairs.

Kylie felt the blood in her veins run backward, her mind going blank for half a minute. When she snapped out of it, she hurried after him and grabbed his arm.

His sharp gaze cut toward her, and she let go as if she had touched a live wire. Blinking her clear, dark eyes, she softened her voice as she said, "Wait."

He looked down at her as his lips curled into a cold smile. "Can't wait to do it right here? Or are you playing hard to get?"

She bit her lip and said, "We're not legally married yet. What if you sleep with me and then decide to walk away?"

She'd be utterly defeated if she lost both her dignity and her body.

He was dazzling, born to stand above others. The more dazzling he was, the more he despised being forced into anything, and the more he hated her.

"He's gone. His things are gone. Shouldn't that be enough to calm you down?" Her voice was soft as she pleaded, though her eyes held a sorrow so deep she couldn't hide it.

She continued, "It's late. You have an early flight tomorrow. You should get some rest."

His eyes narrowed. "How do you know my schedule? Are you planning to meet up with another man while I'm away?"

"No, I just care about—"

"Don't." His tone was ice-cold as he cut her off. "Your only concern should be treating my grandfather. Stay quiet, stay out of the way—that's the best thing you can do for me."

With that, he gave her one last look and walked off, slamming the door behind him. She stood there staring at the closed door, a mess of emotions surging inside her. He always thought she had an ulterior motive.

After all this time, she still couldn't read his emotions, let alone his thoughts. If things went on like this, when would she ever get to expose Iris' true colors?
