"Samuel, your clothes are soaking wet. Since Sebastian is here to take care of Kylie, you should go change before you catch a cold," Alissa advised him.
"It's alright." Samuel turned to her and assured her, "I'm fine, Grandma. Don't worry; Grandpa will be fine, too."
After saying that, he shifted his gaze to Logan and ordered sharply, "Go and get the surveillance footage from the villa."
"Yes, Mr. Vance."
Logan immediately sprang into action. Even today, Logan didn't understand why Kylie insisted on marrying Samuel. The Vance family despised her, and Samuel had someone else in his heart. So, what exactly was she after?
The hall fell into silence, with Sebastian's motions as he examined Kylie being the only sound. Samuel's penetrating black gaze swept across the assembled maids.
Suddenly, a middle-aged maid fell on her knees and shook as if she would fall at any time.
"Mr… Mr. Vance." She felt tongue-tied, making her words come out in a stammer.
After a moment, she finally continued, "My daughter-in-law just gave birth, so I took a month off. Today was my first day back. I thought Ms. Clark was a new maid, so I asked her to clean the swimming pool. I never expected something like this to happen."
"You thought?" Samuel's eyes narrowed dangerously. "You've worked in the Vance residence long enough to know better. You should've realized you couldn't afford the outfit she's wearing, even with a year's salary!"
"What a fool!" Liana stepped forward and reprimanded her before turning to Samuel. "Now that we've gotten to the bottom of it, I'll dismiss this maid to give Ms. Clark a proper explanation."
"It's not that simple." Samuel's voice was low and foreboding.
Her expression darkened in displeasure at his defiance. As she watched the tension rise between the mother and son, Gabriella secretly rejoiced.
Everyone knew that Samuel was filial and outstanding, always overshadowing her son. Liana had always been proud of him. Yet now, for the first time, there was a rift between them.
"Ms. Clark is fine, and the maid has been fired. What more do you want?" Liana scowled.
For the first time, Samuel was opposing her over a woman. And it was a woman who wasn't even worth mentioning!
