A forced marriage would be an uphill battle, but it was the path Kylie had chosen, and she had to keep walking it until she crossed the finish line.
"I can't help it, " she said. If I love someone, I have to fight for him. If I fail, I will give you two my blessing."
"Blessing isn't a concept that I practice." Samuel scoffed, his tone resolute and ruthless. Then, he said deliberately, "If I don't like someone, I will see to it that he won't show up in front of me anymore."
Kylie understood his subtext, and her heart clenched. She couldn't let Dennis suffer the same fate as Owen. She wasn't certain if she should consider herself lucky or otherwise for falling in love with someone like Samuel.
Once they left the convention center, Samuel flagged down a cab. Then, he opened the door to the backseat and gestured for Kylie to get in. She did as she was told, and he also stepped inside and told the driver the name of the restaurant.
It didn't take long for the cab to arrive at the destination.
Before Samuel got out of the car, he turned sideways and glanced at Kylie. "Go back to Hythe Villa first. I've told Jim to prepare a meal for you."
As he bent down and was about to get out of the car, she looked at him and said, "I didn't leave and come out here just to see you share a meal with another lady. If this is how it's going to be, then I'll ask the driver to take me back to the convention center the moment you step out of the car."
Kylie stayed calmly in the car and looked at Samuel. She seemed fearless and didn't have a care in the world. After all, they weren't in the convention center anymore. Logan was the only person here, and he knew nothing about her.
Samuel immediately stopped in his tracks. He might've felt so exasperated that it came around and felt funny to him. He curled his lips, and a hint of amusement flashed in his eyes.
He got back into the car and leaned on the seat leisurely. Pulling out his phone, he dialed Iris' phone. The call was picked up almost instantly.
Instead of his usual cold and distant demeanor, Samuel's tone was warm and loving as he spoke into his phone.
"Iris, I can't pull myself away from my business. Go ahead, finish the meal by yourself, and put the tab on me.
