Chapter 107
Madison dried her hands and approached Rebecca and Tanya. “I can
I can get your horoscope.”
Tanya’s and Rebecca’s eyes widened with joy as they looked at her.
“Five million dollars!” Madison extended her hand, “Give me five million dollars, and
nd I’ll ap
Lagree.”
“What?” Rebecca exclaimed.
Tanya stared at her in disbelief. “Maddie, how can you do this?”
Madison only charged a hundred thousand dollars for changing Amanda’s fate and accepted just eight grand for helping an archaeological team with a stele in the countryside.
Yet, when it came to her own family, she was now asking for five million dollars.
Madison glanced at the hurt look on Tanya’s face and then looked away. “Five million dollars, not a cent less. I’ll be heading to the ghost shrine tomorrow, and you’ll need to come with me to get the horoscope. Have the money ready. We’ll leave first thing in the morning.”
With that, she ignored the upset Tanya and the furious Rebecca and asked them to leave.
Queenie waved happily. “Madison, wait for me tomorrow!”
Rebecca and Tanya left the small courtyard.
As Rebecca watched her mother’s forlorn expression, she said sadly, “Mom, do you think Maddie is upset with me? Is that why she’s asking for five million dollars? She only charged Queenie one million dollars, but for me, it’s five million dollars.”
Tanya, who was already hurt by Madison’s behavior, felt her anger surge at Rebecca’s words. “She’s targeting you! She wants to embarrass you in front of Queenie”
Taking a deep breath, she said, “Let’s head back for now. The ghost shrine matter is our priority.”
When they returned to the Locke residence, Tanya angrily recounted Madison’s outrageous demand for five million d
dollars when William and Harvey came home from work.
William frowned. “If that’s what she
e wants,
ts, just give it
it to her.
“It’s not just about the money; it’s Madison’s attitude,” Tanya replied.
y sat on the couch, tugging at his tie, “Mom, what kind of attitude do you expect from Maddie?”
Harvey
Tanya replied, “At the very least, it shouldn’t be like this. Does she even consider us family? It feels like she sees us as enemies!” Harvey rubbed his temples in frustration. “Do you see Maddie as family? If you really wanted her help, you should’ve been honest. Why did you hide things? You’ve been deceptive, and now that it’s out in the open, you’re worried about your pride.”
Tanya was at a loss for words.
Harvey stood up and grabbed his coat. “I’ll bring the money to Maddie,” he said.
Then, he looked at his parents and Rebecca, sighing heavily. “I thought we had a serious conversation before, and I had believed you. would change. But it seems like you haven’t changed at all; if anything, things have gotten worse. I’m starting to see Maddie’s point about moving out.
It wasn’t just Maddie. He was tempted to move out too.
Harvey left the Locke residence and drove to Madison’s place. He pressed the doorbell and waited. After a moment, the door opened, but no one was there
His heart skipped a beat, but he quickly composed himself. “I’m Maddie’s brother. Where is she?”
