Stanley, however, replied, “How is that enough? Is that sufficient to buy a house in the city?” 

“How is that not enough? I’ve been keeping a record of every penny I sent back over the years. After so many years, it should be enough to pay for the down payment for a house.” 

“Sure, we can afford the down payment, but what are we supposed to do alter that?” 

Stanley was infuriated. Gina, on the other hand, cried aloud. She said, “Did you think the family has had it easy raising you all these years? When you were a kid, you caught a fever. The rain was pouring in the middle of that night, but still, we brought you to the hospital 

“After all that we’ve done, are you still unwilling to give us some

After learning that his parents had adopted him, he felt helpless and in pain. It was only then that he understood why his parents treated him differently after Mark was born. 

It turned out it wasn’t because of his younger sibling. They simply treated Charlie that way because he wasn’t their biological son. Demi’s parents stepped forward and said, “We’re willing to give you the money. But you must sign a contract and never bother our son again. You can forget about ever getting a penny from us if you don’t sign the contract.” 

At first, the Kents didn’t want to agree to the terms. However, Demi’s parents were so adamant about it that the Kents were worried that they wouldn’t be able to get the money otherwise. That forced them to agree to sign the contract. 

That was when Madison’s sounded. She said, “Let’s put the matter regarding the money aside. What you should be thinking about is how your son ended up with the Kents after you lost him.” 

The second she finished speaking, the entire place turned quiet. 

The Langs were stunned as well. Simon frowned. With a stern expression, he demanded, “How did my son end up with you?” 

Stanley avoided everybody’s gaze and replied, “I found him. Just like how you found your daughter, I found Charlie at the side of the 

road too ” 

Madison said, “That is not true. The two mothers were patients in the same hospital at the time. Mr. and Mrs. Kent discovered that their chances of getting pregnant were low, but they wanted a son, so they stole a boy from the nursery.” 

Stanley refuted loudly, “No, we didn’t! We found him at the side of the road. Do you have any evidence to support your accusations?” 

Madison replied, “The hospital might not have had any surveillance cameras installed at the time, but there are medical records. All we need to do is investigate the matter, and we’ll learn that Mrs. Kent was also a patient at that hospital at the time.” 

Stanley had more to say, but a loud thump came. Gina had already knelt down and was hugging Charlie’s leg. “Charlie, we truly had no choice at the time. How were we supposed to survive without a son? 

“We truly loved you as though you were our own son. Whatever you wanted to eat or drink, we made sure you would have it. We even agreed to send you to the school you wanted to go to. We genuinely love you as our own!” 

Charlie looked troubled. 

Demi, however, dragged Charlie over angrily. She was furious and said, “Have the two of you ever actually treated him as though he were yours? He has so many scars on him. They’re from when you abused him, no? 

“Also, this burn mark on the back of his hand is because of you two, isn’t it? Do you realize how low his self–esteem was in the past? He’s such a brilliant–man, but he kept thinking that he was less than average.‘ 

As Demi spoke, her tears rolled down her cheeks. She said, “He should’ve had a happy life. Do you not realize that?” 

Demi ripped Charlie’s shirt off and revealed the scars on his chest as well as his back. 

Stanley and Gina were responsible for all that 

Carla’s voice was trembling when she spoke. Her tears kept rolling down her eyes as she roared, “You stole my son, and still, you had the audacity to abuse him!” 

She was heartbroken to see all the scars on Charlie’s body.
