The Fortune-Telling Heiress novel Chapter 145

Chapter 145

A good kid?said Charlie as he pointed a linger at Mark, When we were kids, he stole some things, and the two of you had me cover for him. You guys let me take the fall for it. Whenever he caused trouble, you’d always blame me for not keeping an eye on him

Back then, I hated and blamed you both for it, but I know the truth now. It wouldn’t have mattered how well I did or how kind I was to the two of you. Neither of you would’ve ever treated me the same way you treated him because I’m not your son in the first place.”

Charlie couldn’t believe that he worked hard all those years just so he could get their approval

He now knew it wouldn’t have mattered how great he was. His parents would never have treated him right

Stanley was so angry that his face turned red. He roared, Regardless of the situation, we were the ones who raised you, so your family must pay us for it. If not, they can forget about ever taking you away.”

Charlie replied, First off, I’m not even your son. Even if I were, I’d still be a free man. I can go wherever I want to go.”

There was no way Stanley and Mark would let Charlie off the hook just like that. The two of them made a scene

On top of that, they claimed that if the Langs took Charlie away without paying, the Kents would surely track the Langs down in the future. They would cause so much disruption that the Langs would never know peace

Everyone was still arguing when the siren from a police car got louder and louder

The Kents, who were acting all barbaric and unreasonable, instantly turned pale with fear

Did you call the police? How could you possibly be such a cruel son? I shouldn’t have raised you all those years ago, scolded Stanley as he looked at Charlie

Charlie didn’t reply, but he wasn’t the one who called the police

Demi and her parents shook their heads as well, expressing that they didn’t call the police either

Madison replied, I was the one who called the police. Your adoptive parents didn’t just kidnap a child. They’re also guilty of illegally selling children.”

Charlie exclaimed, What?”

Everybody had shock plastered on their faces

Madison calmly said, Your adoptive parents used to be able to have kids of their own. But all their children were girls, so they sold their babies.”

Charlie stared at Stanley and Gina in disbelief

Stanley replied with his head held high, Daughters are nothing but burdens. What’s the point of keeping them?”

Gina said in a soft voice as well, Girls are useless. At the end of the day, they’ll just marry into another family.”

Charlie didn’t know how to respond to that

The police arrived at the house at that moment and asked, Which one of you is Stanley Kent? Someone called the police and said that you’re guilty of kidnapping and selling children. Please follow us to the police station for further investigation.”

Officer, I never did that!”

The Kents were taken away after that

The Langs were taken to the police station as well

Charlie picked up his phone and turned to Madison. He asked, Miss, about my adoptive parents”

There’s evidence to prove that they committed those crimes. Hence, they’ll be punished by the legal system.”

Charlie didn’t say anything

This was supposed to be an ordinary day, but it felt as though his heart had taken a roller coaster ride. Intense sorrow and happiness came and went repeatedly

So much had happened within a day. All Charlie was certain of was that it didn’t matter what happened. He would always love Demi. He reached out and held Demi’s hand. Their eyes met, and they smiled

Drini’s eyes

eyes were red with tears, but she smiled at Charlie anyway. The two of them turned their attention to the camera after that
