Just as Madison was about to say thank you, a sudden crack echoed in the air. 

One drone unexpectedly plummeted from the sky, followed by another and another.

“Be careful not to let them hit anyone!” 

“What’s going on?” 

The guests rushed back into the villa. 

Only Jordan stood outside with a grim expression, watching the drones crash to the ground. He frantically pulled out his walkie–talkie and shouted, “What happened?” 

The person in charge on the other end sounded helpless. “We don’t know why either, but we suddenly lost control of the drones. There might be a jamming device nearby! Mr. Salle, we didn’t expect this either!” 

The person in charge was on the verge of tears. 

Jordan cursed under his breath. 

He turned to Madison with a long face. “Ms. Madison, I’m sorry! I–I didn’t expect this!” 

Everything had been planned perfectly to make Madison look good, but now… He felt like slapping himself. 

Madison looked at the shattered drones and shook her head. “It’s not your fault.” 

She gazed up at the pitch–black night sky.

Madison and Jordan returned to the villa. People around them whispered among themselves. 

“What a mess!” 

“If that had hit someone, it would’ve been disastrous!” 

“I was scared to death!” 

Jordan’s expression was grim, while Madison remained calm. 

Rebecca held up the hem of her skirt and approached with a worried expression. “Maddie, are you alright?” 

“I’m fine.” 

Rebecca grasped her hand. “Don’t be upset! I’ll share my gifts with you. I have plenty!” 

She took Madison’s hand and led her to the side of her seat. 

The scions in Riverview and Rebecca’s friends from the entertainment industry began giving Rebecca gifts one after another until her area was piled high with them. 

“Becky, these are gifts for you! You can’t just give them away! Otherwise, we’ll be upset.” 

“Exactly!” 

“This is for you. You can’t just hand it away, not even to your sister!” 

“Who would want someone else’s birthday gifts?” 

Rebecca looked awkwardly between them and Madison. “Maddie, I’m sorry! It’s not that I don’t want to give you these gifts. It’s just that they won’t allow it!” 

“What kind of person is she? Thinking of taking their sister’s birthday gifts!”

“I heard she was raised away from the family and hasn’t had any proper education. It’s only natural for her to be greedy.” 

Madison quietly watched the people in front of her. 

Her gaze slowly shifted, and she spotted Jason’s and Ethan’s angry expressions, William and Tanya’s dissatisfaction, and Rebecca’s smug arrogance in her eyes. 

She withdrew her hand. “I never asked for your gifts from the beginning. Didn’t you say you wanted to give them to me?”
