Chapter 284
Jordan was about to rush forward when Josephine grabbed him. “If you go over now, it’ll only make Maddie feel more embarrassed.” “Are we supposed to watch them bully Maddie?”
Vincent let out a sigh. “Everyone here is sharp. Even the members of the Locke family are siding with Rebecca, Do you think anyone else will stand up for her? Don’t stir up trouble and bring disaster to Maddie.”
Jordan was left speechless.
Once the gift–giving segment from friends concluded, it was time for the family members to present their gifts.
William and Tanya presented matching pieces of jewelry.
Tanya opened the jewelry box and deliberately addressed Madison, “Look closely! The gifts for both of you sisters are the same. There’s no favoritism.”
She thought for a moment before saying, “You can choose first.”
Then, she smiled at Rebecca. “Let Maddie choose first, okay?”
Rebecca shrugged nonchalantly. “Sure, let Maddie pick first. As long as it’s a gift from Mom and Dad, I’ll love it.”
This scene caused the guests‘ expressions to shift noticeably.
“Madison is a bit too assertive!”
“Haven’t you heard? Madison has been telling everyone outside that her family is biased against her. They’re both her daughters, so how could Mrs. Locke show favoritism?”
“Well, she was raised outside. It would make sense if she didn’t have etiquette.”
“Exactly! Education is crucial. We watched Rebecca grow up, and she’s a true heiress of the Locke family. She wouldn’t care about such trivial matters.”
“Just look at the dress Madison is wearing. It must be worth far more than Rebecca’s! It shows what kind of life Rebecca has been living in the Locke family!”
“Hey, being switched at birth isn’t Rebecca’s fault!”
“That’s a bit harsh to her!”
Next came the gifts from Jason and Ethan.
Ethan handed Madison a beautifully crafted sandalwood box. “This emerald bracelet was auctioned for 20 million. Happy birthday!” Madison accepted it graciously.
Then, Ethan took out a cylindrical object and asked Rebecca with a mysterious expression, “Guess what this is?”
Rebecca was momentarily stunned. She then gasped in disbelief, covering her mouth. “Ethan, is it… Is it a painting by Caspian Wren?” Ethan nodded.
“Ethan! You’re the best!”
Ethan opened the painting, revealing a stunning depiction of a classic beauty.
“It looks like Rebecca!”
“It’s definitely Rebecca!”
“How beautiful!”
Ethan handed the painting to Rebecca, who squealed with joy. “Ethan, I love you so much! You’re the best!”
Ethan patted her head, his expression softening. “Don’t worry, you’ll always be my little sister. To me, you’re the only princess of the Locke family. No matter who bullies you, I’ll always stand by your side.”
“Thank you, Ethan!”
Rebecca smiled brightly, then added, “Don’t say it like that! Maddie hasn’t bullied me!”
