Chapter 300

Anger and disdain surged within him.
Harvey’s chest tightened with an unsettling discomfort. He looked at Madison, fearing she would be even more upset.
To his surprise, he found her calmly standing there.
The blue and white hospital gown made her appear even paler and more fragile. Yet her gaze was steady as she watched the scene before her without any fluctuation.
Harvey felt even worse.
He moved closer to Madison. “I’m here for you. Don’t be afraid.”
Madison slightly tilted her head. When she saw the concern in Harvey’s eyes, she shook her head. “I’m not afraid. Harvey, please don’t be angry.”
Harvey was dumbfounded. He felt a painful twitch in his heart.
His sister was also a heiress of the Locke family.
If it weren’t for the mix–up over 20 years ago, would she be standing here now, pitiful and hated by her own family?
This was his biological sister.
Harvey let out a heavy sigh and supported Madison to the hospital bed. “Everything’s going to be fine with me here. If you don’t feel like talking later, that’s okay. And if it gets too noisy, just put on some headphones.”
Madison replied helplessly, “It’s actually not that bad.”
“What do you mean? Madison!” Harvey looked at her with a hint of anger. “You’re a young lady, not some indestructible robot. When it hurts, you should feel the pain; when you’re wronged, you should feel the grievance.”
Madison was speechless.
Pain?
Grievance?
She hadn’t felt those emotions since she was a kid.
Even when it hurt, no one would care. Even when she felt wronged, no one would stand up for her. Yelling out wouldn’t do any good; it would only make her feel more embarrassed.
“If you say it hurts, I’ll help you. If you feel wronged, I’ll help you too.”
It seemed Harvey could see the unsaid words in Madison’s eyes. His expression was resolute.
He covered her with the blanket and handed her his phone. He then pulled out a pair of headphones and placed them over her ears.
“I gave them a chance to leave, but they won’t. Don’t worry, I’ll handle it.”
Madison nodded gently as soft music filled her ears.
This strange feeling made her heart ache. It felt like something was tugging at her heart, stirring emotions she thought had settled.
She lowered her head, hiding the slight redness in her eyes.
Harvey pretended not to notice Madison’s emotions and turned away.
Meanwhile, the Locke family members were still comforting Rebecca.
“How long are you going to keep crying? You came here to solve problems, didn’t you?”
