Chapter 44
Madison had suffered chronic stomach issues. After going a whole day without food, her stomach issues triggered acute gastroenteritis. At the hospital, she received an injection, took medicine, and was put on an IV drip.
By the time everything was dont, it was already past 11:00 pm.
Harvey gently closed the hospital room door. When he turned around, he saw Tanya speaking to Rebecca with a look of concern. “It’s already past eleven, Becky, It’s way past your bedtime for beauty sleep, Get some rest”
Rebecca shook her head and said firmly, “Mom, I don’t need to. I’ll stay here and wait for Maddle to wake up.
“Has Maddie woken up yet, Harvey?”
Harvey looked at his family members standing before him. Being a guest, Queenie had an indifferent expression. William seemed anxious, but Harvey could tell William wasn’t really bothered. Tanya had all her attention on Rebecca
Meanwhile, the once sweet and kind Rebecca seemed like a different person altogether.
“Whose idea was it to lock Maddie up, Mom?”
Harvey glanced at Rebecca, and the latter hid behind Tanya out of fear.
Tanya patted the back of Rebecca’s hand. It was my idea. What’s wrong with that? I did it for your sake. You promised to go on the blind date, but you backed out. “Are you honestly going to say you didn’t take Madison’s advice? You’re an adult, Harvey. There’s a limit to how much you spoil Madison.”
Did Tanya talk about having a limit?
When Harvey, Ethan, and Jason used to dote on Rebecca, they did even crazier things, and their parents never once mentioned setting limits. Now, they got f Madison simply because Harvey didn’t go on the blind date.
The Lockes must have spoiled Rebecca so much that they had lost their minds.
furious and locked up
“What do you mean by limits? You’re the one who should know better, Mom. You locked Madison in her room all day without food or water. Are you trying to starve her to death?“” At 32 years old, Harvey was usually calm and composed, and it was rare for him to get this upset
Tanya was frightened by Harvey’s reaction. “It was just one day without a meal. I got so caught up in your matters that I forgot”
Hiding behind Tanya, Rebecca chimed in, “Mom did it for your own good, Harvey. She didn’t know Maddie had a stomach problem. No one would die from just being hungry for a day.
“Don’t be mad, Harvey. If you need to blame someone, blame it on me.”
The next moment, Rebecca stood in front of Tanya. She had reddened eyes as she sobbed.
“Becky” Tanya pulled Rebecca behind her. “If you dare scold her, you and I are going to have a problem, Harvey”
“Madison is my sister as well,” Harvey replied, clenching his teeth. “Aren’t you aware Madison is also your daughter, Mom? You can spoil Becky, but you can’t be this unfair
“We brought Madison back to make it up for her, didn’t we? Have you thought about why she has a stomach issue? Is there anyone else in the Locke family facing the same issue? “Madison is only 22 years old and already has such a severe stomach problem. What does that tell you, Mom? Don’t you get it yet?
Harvey’s words rendered Tanya silent, ber eyes betraying a hint of pain.
“Out it out,” William sternly remarked. “Making a racket in front of a hospital room is out of line. Sure. Your mom was at fault, but she did it with your best interests at heart.” Harvey pressed his lips into a thin line.
“You should reflect on yourself. If you took the blind date seriously, your mom wouldn’t have locked Madison up. You’re not young anymore. It’s about time you get married. Harvey took a deep breath. “I understand. I take care of it.”
William looked at Tanya and Rebecca. “Let’s go. Harvey can handle things from here. We should head back”
Outside the room, only Harvey was left sitting on a chair.
