Chapter 24 Are You Done?

Even though Davina had called Stella a fake heiress earlier, not everyone took her word at face value..

But Jude clearly understood her ties to the Summers–and the deep grudge between them.

That was the only reason he would’ve said something like that.

Davina gave him a half–smile, playful and mocking. “Thanks, I guess

It was a fake smile, sure, but with Davina’s beauty and the glow she carried ever since her rebirth, even a sarcastic grin made her look radiant.

Her cheeks puffed up slightly when she smiled like that, giving her a doll–like appearance–like something out of a storefront display.

The sight made Jude want to reach out and pinch her cheek.

And so, he did.

The moment his fingers touched her skin, he froze. He hadn’t expected her skin to feel so soft.

It was like a smooth, squishy egg–delicate and almost too perfect to touch. He was genuinely afraid of squeezing too hard and leaving a mark.

“Are you done?” Davina asked, frowning. Her voice had turned cold.

Reluctantly, Jude drew back his hand, a mischievous spark dancing in his eyes.

“What if I said no? Could I keep going?”

Davina scowled and gave him a long, weirded–out look. “Do you have some skin hunger issue or something?”

Jude was speechless.

And right then, an untimely voice cut through the moment.

“Davina? Is that really you

I thought you went abroad!”

“Abroad? Pift. You actually believed that? She went off to the countryside to feed pigs!” another voice added with a loud snort.

Two of them—a guy and a girl–had just spoken, but the whole group was vaguely familiar.

Davina and Jude both turned toward the source of the voices.

They saw a group of six youngsters walking into the restaurant–university students, probably here for a casual dinner. Coincidentally, Davina had gone to the same school with them.

They all came from money. Maybe not old money, but definitely nouveau riche.

When Davina was brought home, they sent her to the same elite school as Stella.

But they’d made one thing clear: Davina wasn’t allowed to reveal her true identity. She had to protect Stella’s reputation.

Back then. Davina was timid–thanks to years of being raised by the Palmers–and too kind for her own good. She agreed, never once revealing the truth.
