After hearing that, Meredith nodded with difficulty. She could not take painkillers. She could only grit her teeth and hold on despite extreme pain.
The doctor looked at her and couldn't help but think that this woman was really strong enough. Not daring to delay any longer, he quickly held Meredith's hand and pushed her dislocated bone back.
Only then did Meredith understand what it meant to be in overwhelming pain. Her hand was already swollen, and now her every move, even a slight one, would pull the swollen part, causing her extreme pain.
Looking at the way Meredith's tried to bear the pain, Derek also felt painful in his heart. But soon, the pity was forcibly erased by himself. He should not have extra sympathy for her. She was not worth it.
However, seeing that Meredith was already covered with sweat and the doctor had not finished the treatment, Derek walked over and said, "Why isn't it finished?"
He didn't remember that he had hit her so hard.
"Mr. Xavier, Miss Mason is pregnant and she's prone to swelling. Now the affected part is swelling so bad that I can only take it slow. There's no other way!"
Looking at Derek's gloomy face, the doctor wiped his sweat and spoke with trepidation.
Meredith said feebly, "Don't worry so much. Go on."
After saying that, Meredith did not even look up at Derek. Her hand was injured by him, and now he pretended to be concerned about her. Who did he want to show it to?
Derek's sense of guilt which had just appeared in his heart had mostly subsided upon seeing the coldness on her face.
Since she did not care about his care at all, why would he bother to care about her?
"Didn't you hear that? She's not afraid of pain. Hurry up and finish the treatment."
Seeing that the doctor still had not started, Derek urged impatiently. Meredith sneered in her heart. She was not made of steel. How could she not be afraid of pain? It was just that he didn't care whether she hurt or not.
If Chloe felt a little uncomfortable, he would have quickly shown his great concern for her. That was what men would do. If a man cherished a woman, even her lightest injury would be important for him. If a man didn't care about a woman at all, just like the situation between her and Derek right now, even when she was almost killed by the overwhelming pain, a man wouldn't blink his eyes once. And this was what Derek did now.
The doctor did not dare to delay any longer. Since he did not understand what was going on between the two of them, he could only continue to move. Meredith was nearly numb because of the pain. She did not know how long it had taken before the doctor finally stopped and said, "Okay, I'll prescribe some medicine for external application for you which you should remember to apply on time. Also, remember to ice the wound with ice water every day. Since you're pregnant and have a special condition, you won't take any medicine."
After hearing the doctor's instructions, Meredith nodded and thanked the doctor weakly. Then, she immediately lay on the bed and closed her eyes.
It had been a very tiring day and she didn't want to see Derek either, so she closed her eyes. Although she couldn't sleep, she could at least feel less upset.
Derek looked at her obvious evasive action and felt unhappy. He walked over, pinched her chin and forced Meredith to turn around. "Well, are you so unwilling to see me?"
"Is it a good thing to see you? Or do I want to accidentally offend Mr. Xavier and break my arm again?"
Meredith felt pain and looked at Derek who was standing at the head of the bed. There was no emotion and no fluctuation in her eyes.
This look made Derek angry in his heart, but he had no excuse to vent this anger on her. It felt as if he was holding a fire in his heart which wasn't fierce but made him suffer.
Derek was upset and didn't want to pester her anymore. He released his grip and walked out.
