Derek went upstairs and opened the door. Meredith was combing her hair while thinking about Parker's plan. She turned around and saw Derek when she heard the noise. Her eyes flashed with panic.
Meredith quickly held back her flurry and smiled. "Why are you here?"
Seeing her unnatural expression, Derek narrowed his eyes. "I come as I wanted. Are you... Are you unhappy to see me?"
Meredith didn't say anything. Would this man not come if she was unhappy?
"No, how would I be unhappy?"
Meredith said indifferently. Anyway, she was leaving these days and she suddenly didn't want to argue with Derek tit for tat anymore.
Maybe they wouldn't see each other again in the future.
"What were you thinking just now?" Derek came over and looked at the comb he took from Meredith's hand curiously.
Meredith had just taken a shower, and her hair was still slightly scented after drying. Her hair was very soft and hung down loosely, making her slightly lazy and seductive feminine.
Derek could not help but touch the silky soft hair. His movements were very light and gentle as if it was a precious treasure which made Meredith dazed in a moment.
However, she quickly pinched her fingers to stop herself from being distracted by his transient tenderness.
"Nothing. I was just bored and in a daze."
Meredith changed the topic quickly. "Didn't you go home?"
Derek was upset and didn't say anything when he thought about what happened at the Xaviers. The two of them were then in a strange silence.
"Has your fever been brought down yet?"
Derek thought of something and reached out to touch Meredith's forehead. It seemed to be much cooler than just now and she seemed to already recover.
"I almost recover." Meredith shook her head nonchalantly as if she was afraid that Derek would remember that terrible cooling method.
Derek sensed that she was getting nervous. He lowered his head and pinched Meredith's chin. "Why, are you afraid I'll cool you down physically?"
Meredith's face turned completely red. She felt that the picture was too beautiful to look straight at when she thought of Derek's method and she gently removed her chin from the man's hand. "I don't have a fever now and I'm taking my medicine normally. I don't need you to do that."
Derek snorted and did not put her on the spot anymore. "I'm tired and I'll go to sleep."
He was really a little tired, not only because of the physical fatigue caused by work but also the psychological pressure brought by the Old Master. He was forced by him to get married.
He didn't want to marry Chloe but Meredith...
Derek frowned at the thought of the unborn child and became even more upset.
Seeing that Derek did not seem to do anything to her, Meredith was relieved and did not evade him anymore. It would be better for her to make some concessions as he would be angry if she refused him all the time.
Derek turned off the light and held Meredith in his arms. The elegant fragrance of her body made him relaxed and he felt more and more sleepy. The man finally fell asleep.
