Derek was gloomy. No one dared to speak. He was more terrifying when he kept silent than lose temper.
"If you can't find her, you will all be punished."
Derek looked at them coldly. He was disappointed that they couldn't even watch out for a pregnant woman.
...
Parker took Meredith to a hidden place.
"You can rest here for a few days. When everything is arranged, I will take you out of here."
Parker still needed some time to make arrangements to take Meredith away.
"I know."
Meredith nodded. "Thank you, Parker. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't know what to do now."
"Why are you being polite to me? It's what I should do."
Meredith felt even more guilty when she heard this. Although she didn't understand what these people were doing in the mall, in the end, Parker took unnecessary risks for her and might be retaliated by Derek. His sacrifice made her feel a little stressed.
Seeing this, Parker reached out and pulled Meredith into his arms. "You don't have to feel guilty. I'm willing to do this."
He thought, "I owe you, too." Parker didn't say that to Meredith. He planed to keep this secret from her for the rest of his life.
Meredith was startled by the sudden hug and immediately pushed Parker away. However, sensing that the action was hurtful, she lowered her head and said, "I'm sorry. I'm... a little tired. I want to rest first."
Meredith could also sense that Parker still seemed to have some affection for her, but in the end, she didn't want to drag him down into trouble when she was pregnant with someone else's child.
What's more... Meredith thought of Derek's face that was extremely charming and attractive. After all, she was still not so confident of herself for being able to forget him immediately.
Parker was pushed away by her, feeling a little depressed, but he quickly collected himself. "Since you're tired, go rest first. I'll go out to deal with things. Don't run around. If you need anything, call me."
Parker asked someone to buy Meredith a brand new phone and put it in her hand. Meredith nodded. "I see. You can go out and deal with them. I'm fine. I don't need anyone to accompany me all the time."
Parker nodded. Although he really wanted to stay with Meredith, the situation was complicated now. He had to take her out as soon as possible, instead of taking risks by staying in Derek's territory.
After Parker left, Meredith sat down on the bed and stared at her phone in a daze.
She wondered if Derek was looking for her everywhere. Would he be angry at her for leaving without saying goodbye?
Her mind was in a mess, and there was a knock on the door outside.
Meredith immediately became vigilant and walked over, looking through the peephole to check who was outside the door. It turned out to be a woman, not Parker.
Her heart was beating so fast that she didn't dare to make a sound. She held her breath and waited for the woman outside to leave.
This woman may have bad intentions. She must not expose herself.
