"Ah..."
The heart-wrenching screams were especially terrifying at midnight on the uninhabited island. It broke the silence and darkened the night.
Meredith felt that she was numb from the pain. She could not feel the time, but she was still not free...
Meredith gritted her teeth to surpress the pain.
"Miss Mason, push! Take a deep breath!"
Meredith used her last bit of strength. Finally, a baby's cry echoed in the room.
Then, Meredith heard the doctor's cheers. "The child is out!"
"Great, hurry up and tell Mrs. Xavier the good news!"
"It's a boy. Come on, check it out and put it in the incubator."
The child was born, and the tearing pain temporarily eased. She hadn't even seen him. They said it was a boy. She didn't know if the child would be like her...
Meredith bit her lower lip and forced herself to stay awake, "My child, let me...let me see him..."
The doctors looked at each other, then someone came over and took the child away. "I'm sorry, Miss Mason. You can't see him."
"Why?"
Meredith had suffered for hours but was forbidden to see her son.
"That's my son, why...why can't I see him!"
Meredith felt like she was going crazy. That was the baby she had given birth to with all the energy in her life. How could they be so cruel?
However, she could only hear the baby's cry fading away, as if the baby would be separated from her, his mother from now on. The gradually distant cry made her heart-broken.
Meredith couldn't even care about her weak body and struggled to see the child being carried away.
"Miss Mason, calm down!"
"It's good for you and for your son..."
The doctor quickly held her down, when she struggled.
What did he mean?
Her baby was taken away before she could take a look at him. How dare they say that?
"Your son will grow up in the Xaviers. He will get good education and ample love. As for Miss Mason... you should just forget him!"
When she heard this, Meredith held his hand tightly. "No~~No~~~I can't live with this..."
