Amelia was so angry that she almost fell off her wheelchair. Dug grave. What was Derek thinking?
Did he try to make a "Deadman" turn in her grave?
However, she couldn't even stop this man in her current state, so she immediately took out her cell phone and called Damian.
She didn't want to contact anyone at the Xaviers, but she couldn't just sit by and watch Derek mess around here.
"What? Boss is..."
Hearing Amelia's words, Damian felt he was not himself. He knew that Derek was deeply affected by Meredith's death, but he didn't expect it to be so serious.
Could Derek, who was as cold as ever, do such things?
If such news went out, his reputation would be ruined.
After all, this was a rather unethical approach.
"I'll be right there!"
As the situation admitted of no delay, Damian rushed over as soon as he knew where they were.
By the time he found them, Derek was about to dig out the urn. Damian immediately stopped him, regardless of the fact that Derek was his boss.
"Boss, stop... Stop disturbing her... You'll make her restless..."
Damian also choked at the thought of the woman whom he had been with all day and night had turned into a cluster of ashes and slept here alone. But in the end, he needed to stop Derek.
The man's face was grim and unmoved. "How can she be at peace here... I'll take her back. Falling leaves settle on their roots. Don't you understand?" he insisted.
Damian's forehead was dripping with sweat. Derek was too stubborn to listen to others. "Boss, it's illegal to dig a grave without permission."
"Meredith is my woman, the mother of my child. I want to take away her ashes. Is that illegal?"
"But... Right now, your fiancée is... Miss Bennett."
"Fiancée..."
Derek sneered. He had promised to get engaged to Chloe in the first place for Meredith's safety.
Now that she was dead, why should he keep the invalid promise?
"Chloe has nothing to do with me. I have to take Meredith back."
With a pale face, Damian was bewildered about what else to do. Soon, Derek's efforts paid off, and an urn was revealed in front of everyone.
It was an exceptionally ordinary urn, but Derek bent over and carefully picked it up as if he had seen the most precious treasure in the world.
He stroked the cold, smooth surface with affection in his eyes... She came back and was lying quietly in his arms.
Everyone present was lost for words when they saw his expression.
Amelia, in particular, almost fainted at the sight of this and came over in a wheelchair, crying. "Derek, can you stop pretending? What are you pretending to be? Where were you when she was suffering? Do you think you're doing this to her? Put your things down!" she yelled.
Amelia grabbed Derek's arm and squeezed it out with all her might.
She was on the verge of a breakdown because of the man's insane behavior. Oh goodness. Did Derek want to keep Meredith in his sight after she died and be with him forever?
"Damian, put her back."
Derek didn't seem to feel any pain. He held the urn in his arms contentedly for fear that anyone touched it.
