Amelia was shocked. She didn't understand why Derek did this.
"Derek, what's the point of doing this?"
Derek did not say anything. He placed the flowers in front of the tombstone with his expression unpredictable.
Amelia turned very angry suddenly. "She's gone. When she's alive, why don't you treat her well? Instead, you hurt her and make her sad. Now she's dead, you're suddenly in love. Such a good actor you are!"
"So that's what you think..."
Derek laughed when heard Amelia's question.
She was right.
Totally.
If he had not hesitated; if he had sent a few more people to protect her; if he had found the uninhabited island where Meredith was, she would not have died now.
He deserved the result. It was all his own fault.
"So I can only accept the reality. If she hates me, come to me and let me pay."
The man's words drifted in the wind, making people feel a little cold.
Amelia's lips moved. She felt that Derek was different from what she had imagined.
But she wouldn't risk Meredith.
"Let me see... The child."
Amelia said and took Easton from Derek's arms.
Although he was not one month old yet, under the care of the Xaviers, he had grown up in good condition, and he was such a good boy. He was held by a person he had never met before, and he did not cry or make a scene. Instead, he stared at her with wide eyes with curiosity.
This was her grandson...
Amelia suddenly wanted to cry. She knew how much Meredith had done to give birth to this child. Now that she was holding him in her arms, she had the urge to take him away.
She knew Meredith had some symptoms of postpartum depression because she could not be with the child. If she could bring the child over...
"Derek, can you let me take the child back..."
"No."
Derek refused decisively.
Now, Easton was the only link that could connect him and Meredith. Without the child, he would go crazy.
Amelia was not surprised by the rejection. She made a decision in her heart, "Then I can come and see him more in the future? Or, you can send him to be with me for a while and then pick him up."
"It depends."
Derek couldn't let anything happen to the child, so he didn't say yes. "But if you want to pay a visit, anytime."
Amelia sighed inwardly, her heart in a mess.
