Nora was wondering if he didn't like her. She was a little sad, but she felt even more guilty.
Easton looked at her without blinking, as if it was the first time they had met. The little guy was very happy that she could come, but he tried hard not to show it.
So the two who had been tricked by Derek had their first meeting as mother and son.
"Why are you here?"
Nora's voice was very gentle. "I heard from your father that you didn't have dinner. I was a little worried, so..."
She pursed her lips. "Easton, you, you don't like me coming over?"
"Of course not," the little guy said immediately. His voice was loud, but then he felt embarrassed after saying this. He still kept a straight face.
Nora was so happy and smiled. She walked over with the tray and asked, "Easton, if you don't eat at night, you'll be hungry. If you're hungry, you'll feel uncomfortable. Get something to eat, OK?"
Easton blushed at her tone. She sounded so gentle and motherly. He didn't say anything.
Nora picked up a spoon, scooped up some steamed eggs, blew it, and handed it in front of his mouth. "Easton, honey, you are the most obedient. Eat this, and you can grow tall and strong."
Honey... The little guy's face turned even redder, and he was very shy, but he couldn't help stealing a glance at Nora, his eyes shining.
When he was very little, he wondered if the mother of other children would coax them to eat and bathe, and also read them bedtime stories.
Mothers' voices must be very gentle, and they would look at their children happily. He had seen those looks in kindergarten and was very envious.
But now... He was enjoying those things he once envied. The little guy was happy and excited, and then gulped down the eggs. He felt that these were the best eggs he had ever eaten.
Nora fed the child who was eating and they were both happy. The scene was very warm and loving.
A mother knew her children very well. Nora naturally knew from his reactions that Easton did not dislike her. She was relieved and wiped his mouth.
Nora finished feeding, took a shower for the little guy, carried him to the bed, covered him with a quilt, and Easton immediately stuffed the storybook taken out from the cabinet to her.
Although they did not communicate much, they got along very naturally.
Of course, Nora wouldn't refuse her son's request for a bedtime story. She lay down beside him, lowered her voice, and began to read.
Time passed by. When Easton fell asleep, Nora closed the book and looked at the little boy's lovely face with loving eyes. She bent down and kissed him gently on his little face.
It was a simple action, but her heart was filled with joy and satisfaction.
Just then, Derek came in.
"Is he asleep?"
Nora shushed him and nodded.
Seeing the expression on her face, he knew that they were getting along well. "It's getting late. Stay here tonight."
Nora hesitated.
She finally knew Easton was her son, so she naturally wanted to spend more time with him, but...
"The child is very sensitive. He's so happy today. If he can't see you when he wakes up tomorrow, he must be sad again. You can sleep with Easton tonight," Derek said faintly.
