"Mom, you've slept for a long time. I was scared."
"I'm sorry baby. This won't happen again. I promise." Nora held him tighter.
Although she had known that Easton was her son, she had not regained her memory, and it was different now. She could clearly feel how hard it was to give birth to the little guy in her arms.
No matter what happened between her and Derek, Easton was her son, a soft spot in her heart.
If it was possible, she really didn't want to leave Easton, but...
At this moment, Derek came over, "I heard from the butler that you are coming downstairs. Are you feeling well? You must tell me if you feel unwell."
As he spoke, he sat beside her, ready to hold her. Nora subconsciously avoided him, and Derek's smile froze.
The atmosphere between the two of them was inexplicably oppressive.
The butler at the side saw this and immediately took the little guy away. Although Easton did not know what was going on, he could feel that something was wrong between his mom and dad.
"Nora, what's wrong with you? Did what happened last time scare you? It's all my fault. I was late. You can rest assured that this won't happen again," Derek looked at her.
Listening to his patient and soft words, Nora's nose was sore. She could not suppress her resentment. She took a deep breath and looked at him expressionlessly.
"Derek, I'm not Nora. You should call me Meredith."
A simple sentence made Derek freeze in place.
He did not expect her to regain her memory so soon. If it was before, he hoped that Meredith would remember what happened before and their feelings for each other.
But now...
When he thought of the distance and the indifference in Meredith's tone since she woke up, Derek felt a sense of panic.
"Nora, no, Meredith, you, you remembered, that's great, I..."
Derek spoke in a sad tone. For the first time, a powerful man like Derek was so flustered and stuttering.
"Why? Aren't you happy? Do you want my memory back or not? Why do I feel you don't seem very happy?" Meredith said coolly.
"How could that be? Meredith, I'm so happy that you could remember our past."
"Our past? Is our past a wonderful memory? Why don't I know..." The corners of Nora's mouth curled up in sarcasm.
Derek froze and panicked. He pulled her over and held her shoulders, "Meredith, what do you mean by that?"
"What do I mean? Don't you know?"
"Did you forget what your the Xaviers did to me, what your mother did to me, and what you did to me? Oh, or did you lose your memory about our past when I regained?"
Nora looked at him coldly. The secret affection in Nora's eyes was gone.
